Over the past couple of weeks, we have been working on a new, significantly different style for GH. What started as a simple experiment to improve mobile frame rate has taken hold and informed the games visual identity...
Basically, we are are replacing some (most) of the games expensive 3D models with glorious high resolution 2D sprites, taken from some newly created high poly sculpts. You can see a comparison below:
This shot shows a work in progress screen from the current build of the game, showing the high res sprites of two different types of tree's, alongside a screenshot showing the old, much less pretty and much more expensive 3D models. Pretty much everything in the game will be receiving this treatment, with the exception of the truck.
Speaking of the truck, we are also doing a total overhaul of the games movement system... But thats an update for another day...
