GOLEM is a game where no mistake goes unpunished.

I have always been a fan of games with simple mechanics, but crushing difficulty and a hefty punishment for failure. When one screw-up can send you straight back to the start of the zone, fights are tense, jumps are nerve-racking and items are a godsend. This is what I am trying to achieve with GOLEM.


My inspirations include:

The original Castlevania games, the Souls series, The original Megaman series, and of course Super Metroid.


The game is a platform shooter that takes place in a series of stretching caves that make up a huge labyrinth filled with traps, tough enemies, secret passages, special items and the occasional NPC to keep you company. All of which will be accessible right from the start if you have the skill to fight your way through. Observation is key, if you don't watch for enemy attack patterns or spot a trap before you wander into it, it could mean instant death. I know there are still people out there who enjoy a difficult game that tests your skill and wit as much as I do.


I am the sole developer of this project and it is still in early stages, but I will be working hard on it every day until it's finished. I will update this page as often as I can as development continues. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Added lanterns to light your way through the labyrinth.



New tile set.









The Shield-Skeleton (Top left) hides behind a shield.

It only opens his guard for a split-second to throw projectiles at the player.





NPCs can be hard to come by if you aren't observant, they are hidden all around the labyrinth.

They may give you some insight into why you're here.





The fire sorceresses can use a polymorph spell to transform the Golem,

then fire projectiles at you in your weakened state.





Early development on water environments, the Golem can also hang and shimmy across ropes.





Just Added some birdies that will flee when the Golem gets close.

You can kill them if you can keep up with them but it rewards nothing except guilt.


Added a new enemy type that jumps up from beneath

the ground when you enter it's trigger area. Spooky.



A few tracks of the tracks I've made for the game so far. As it stands they are place-holders until I decide on a solid musical style.
