Big May Update

I'm excited to say that lots of promising progress has been made this month on Galaxy Heist.

- New FPS map levels being fleshed out
- New Space Environments
- New Gameplay features being programmed
- New Animations
- New Characters being created

There's an underlying theme here you may have picked up on from that list. Right now we are still
working on model and character building. That will continue throughout the summer so that we constantly have new content to show off and play with. On the programming side we are ironing out the flying mechanics in UE4 so that multiple people can fly in the same ship while shooting different turrets. The way ships are controlled is getting a huge overhaul as well, as they will more closely simulate controlling a very large ship in space instead of a fighter like before.

On the First Person Shooting side of the gameplay we are focusing on getting the feel of the weapons right, properly replicating things on the server, and getting all our shiny new animations to work smoothly. We have a new health and ammo system working in the game but it's a bit too rough to show a video of it in action yet.

There are some things that can definitely be shown however.

Lets start with one of the levels on the inside of one of our ships. This is only a first pass, next week the lighting and texturing will be done, but here are a few sneak peeks.

And here are a few shots of the new space environment. The texture on the earth is a dynamic texture that will change during day and night cycles. It's actually 12 super HD textures from NASA that have been photoshopped together to stay high detail when the earth is sized up.

That's it for now. I plan on making some short videos by the end of next month to hopefully show off the working mechanics that we have implemented. In the meantime it's great to see our social media presence building. We just broke 5,000 twitter followers and are followed by some big accounts such as the Unreal Engine whos recent sharing of our content has really helped spread the word of what we are doing.

Thanks for the support!
