Since gui elements are after processing, essentially just 3d meshes, it is possible to not use just a plane, and instead a custom mesh. the only rule is it must be exactly 1x1x1 in size, so the gui can scale it properly to match your given pixel coords for the gui element.

and yeah, arpg will come with a bunch of free ones by me. i'm no artist though, but they'll be better than a plane at least (No offense god.) :)
