Hi all,
It is Sunday and we have something new for you. Yes, yes it’s a new update with new things and improvements.
In the previous update, many of you have complained about the changes in the world map. I guess, I should’ve explained the way the new map works and the core changes more thoroughly to avoid the misunderstanding.
Even though I have given some guides on the forum, I think I should repeat them here in case some of you have missed them.
So first of all there is no grid, locations’ coordinates are procedurally generated every new game, they can spawn anywhere on the map and they do not snapped to a grid.
The first click on the map will bring up a small orange square which shows your destination, to start moving you must click (once) INSIDE that orange square. If you make a double click the character will stop.
Secondly, all ‘permanent’ locations have icons that represent their types, in order to explore these locations you must place the character (orange cross) within the icon borders. If you press the “Explore” button while being outside the icon, you’ll be spawn on a random location.
The locations’ names, which you will explore if you press the “Explore” button, are displayed just above the “Explore” button. All random locations are called as - Wilderness.
Thanks to the feedback you all provided we made a few improvements:
- unvisited locations have blue colour
- visited locations are green
- size of the icons was increased
- the fog became transparent showing the map’s outline
- additional icon (blue triangle) to show your cabins
- extra icon for locations with lakes
- improved procedural generation
More New Stuff
Some of the old locations has gotten entrances into the new underground sub-locations. At the moment all entrances are static but later we plan to make them procedurally generated.
A few new items
- Soap to wash dirty sheets
- Wrist watch ( shows in-game time)
- Thermometer ( shows outdoor temperature)
“Stained sheets” have a purpose, you would need them to make torches.
“Survivor’s guide mak” is another small, but a very handy addition. It allows you to place marks in that can be seen on the minimap. You can find them in the Building tab.
The starting location have undergone some minor changes. After some observation, I also decided to increase the attack range of the Piercer, he was a relatively easy target for some skilful players))
The world has grown a little bit more and now consists of 43 locations. A bunch of annoying was fixed and I hope they will not appear again.
As always we're looking forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback.
Thank you all,
