how much do you pay for renting a mocap studio?

It really depends on the Mocap studio , and the technology they have TBH. Prices can go up to 5 digits depending on what you want to do, who you contact and how long you want to film...

I heard it's relatively simple to set up mocap systems, the only major problem being the space required. Would you say the cost doing it this way was better than what it would have taken to get something adequately set up yourselves?

Well, set up is (relatively) easy, but the camera system costs a lot of money, especially if you want good quality. At Quantic Dream's studio they have 64 cameras, each one with 16 Megapixel resolution. That is probably a few million euros in itself. Then they have the roomspace, the props, and the knowhow. Sure you could set up a 4 camera system for a much smaller price (5-10k dollars), but you would never get that kind of detail and quality.

So... Was worth it? Definetly!
