A remake of the 2010 freeware release of Fortify. Fortify Special Edition is a real-time strategy game with a tower defense feel. Defend your castle from attacking monsters and siege weapons by using ranged and melee defenders, catapults, cannons, oil fields and more. You start at the Iron age and slowly advance to the Medieval Age and later the Imperial Age. Each age enables important upgrades and allows for new techniques to defend your castle. Multiplayer mode plays like the campaign, but instead of having enemies attack automatically, every monster that attacks you has been sent by your opponent and you must also attack them. The Special Edition includes - Real-time shadows based on time of day - Improved art - New interface - Save feature - Code optimization allowing for the new art and effects. - Multiplayer Player vs Player mode, tower defense style - Arcade mode: How long can you survive the attacks? - Achievements - Better implemented leaderboards And more

A video showing the first few minutes of gameplay in Fortify Special Edition!

Hello everyone!

Fortify: Special Edition is progressing well and it's looking really good in motion so I thought I would share the first gameplay video with all of you!

What are the changes so far?
Aside from the obvious graphical improvements like real-time shadows and animations, you might notice a big difference in the User Interface to the right. First of all it has been simplified in the early stages of the game to avoid confusion. Buttons that are unavailable to the player are invisible and are gradually added as the game progresses. Second, the UI now features four different "Tabs" at the top, these tabs are divided into "Units", "Buildings", "Upgrades" and "Outposts". This should make it clear where to go when you need to make a specific task and allows the buttons to be large and easy to distinguish from one another. The buttons also clearly show when they are available to you and when they are not. This will help to make those quick decisions when you need a new unit or worker asap.

A tutorial is mostly completed as well, a more in-depth video and news post about this will appear in the near future. There is still some fine tuning to do with it, like adding sounds for example.

I hope you all check out the video, Fortify SE really looks great in motion with all the animations and real time shadows.
