Fort Zombie is a focused-scope, casual RPG title in which the game world revolves around a single building – your fort – and the mission specific chunks of the small town that surrounds it. Instead of a major city or a vast countryside, player’s focus their efforts on building up a single structure, finding and training survivors, and venturing out into town looking for supplies.

Great idea, terrible execution. I'm all for indie game developers and I have a HIGH tolerance for lack of polish, but that is not the issue with this game. I played it at a friend's house and thank god I did, ten dollars gets you browser game level quality, if that.

The aiming in the game is completely broken. Sometimes your character will shoot at random locations in the room or sky for seemingly no reason until you jiggle the mouse. Melee barely works ever, zombies teleport through obstacles and get stuck in walls, and the entire game suffers from the weirdest difficulty curve ever. The beginning of the game is about luck. Sometimes you spawn next to two zombies with rifles who proceed to immediately murder you. Sometimes you just walk to the base. From that point on, it's about surviving until your skills get high enough to compensate for the broken game mechanics.

Bottom line, the problem is glaring bugs that should never escape even a beta test of two competent people. Terrible framerates and a beautiful idea done nowhere near the right amount of justice.

Really, the idea had potential, they just turned it into a **** hole with cartoony graphics dificult controls and general buggyness

An essentially fun and new concept, i.e. the survival of a group of individuals through scavenging resources from a zombie-infested city while building defenses for an always certain final confrontation falls flat because of the bad execution. Controls felt unresponsive and aiming was ridiculously hard as the third person camera and the mouse-controlled aiming circle never quite seemed to work together. Shots that were aimed perfectly at a Zombie either missed by about a screen worth of distance or just plain went through the target. Even given the circumstances of the player controlling a survivor and not an action hero, the controls are just broken. Guns become essentially useless except for shotguns and even they are not always a guaranteed hit at close distances, when the collision detection, camera angle and aimpoint fight for superiority. Melee weapons are plagued by the same problem and unless you find one of the hidden swords in special locations, you're not going to survive a lot of melee either.

Thus the player is almost incapable of actively defending himself from an enemy that barely deserves the words "artificial intelligence". While the Zombies manage to sometimes climb over obstacles, they're just as likely to get stuck on the sidewalk or in a door. Survivors are just as stupid and escorting them is more than just a chore as they have the survival instinct of lemmings. Don't count on them accomplishing anything in the final night either, just hole them up somewhere they cannot get eaten and get to work yourself. A shame because it seems the survivors received some attention. There's regular people, children, the gun-toting conspiracy nut and ex-Military to find, and the Zombies are just as varied.

While it is sad, especially as I am a Zombie games fan and this one had a lot of potential in the search and barricade mechanics, the lousy AI, broken shooting and annoying and repetetive sound design make this game just boring and painful to play.

The idea is good, the game is not.

I own this game. It's not that great...

They could have but forth some extra effort into getting the bugs patched or releasing some mod tools for it as the game is pretty editable already. Still, no amount of tweaking can save this game. What we do need is a game of this same concept but on a different engine like L4D.

The engine they use is really crappy. They did give a bit of support to fix the game. But they didn't give much polish to the game.

its amazing

I just love these types of games

Run and gun threw a town of undead civilians, police and military, claim a fort, look for survivors and supplies and survive. Good game, but needed more work than what was put into it.

This game has potential to be a great zombie game, but still needs a few improvements for that to happen.

Great Game! Laggy (often) but great all the same!
