A survival, build a life role playing game, were you decide your own path. Realism is a keyword. Can you survive long enough to become someone, other people find useful? You are nothing, you have nothing - what to do...

Post news Report RSS Forging Life as MMO?

Singleplayer, nah.... Why not go all the way - we are converting Forgin Life to an MMO. We can't be more exited!

Posted by on

Singleplayer games are fun, no doubt about it - but for many players a singleplayer game requires a well told story. And we are not sure, we can / want to tell a story. We just want people to tell their own story, by building a life for them selves. But telling that story to your self, might not be satisfactory enough for all. Thats why we have decided to convert the game to an MMO.

So right now the game is being split up in to client/server side, and service clients. Fortunate for us, we designed the code, so much of it are pretty easy to split up. So the progress is good.

We KNOW we havn't been good to you lately, eg. showing new progress and graphics. Most of all, because there are no new progress in that area. Over the summer, the holidays and RL work pressure, we only have had time to build most of the editor and now we have started the MMO. We look forward to see two clients hooked up to the server, and to run around, interacting with each other.

Be patient :)

Very interesting change. It could be awesome.

By MMO do you mean something more along the lines of Minecraft where it is player run servers that have the potential to support hundreds of people? Or are you talking about a full on, one sever, MMO?

I dont know about making it MMO personaly i prefered the idea of having to survive in the wilderness on my own...although admittedly multiplayer does sound like a good idea i dont think it should be a full multiplayer only thing

I have to agree with Bomtaker01 here. Multiplayer also probably will make it harder to balance your game out: like, most animals are probably extinct and most resources already gathered once you entered that server etc. This probably won't be as much the case if you simply set up LAN games you can play with your friends (and not global servers). But as you probably figured out yourself, there's many ways to make an MMO so I'll just sit back and hope you guys know what you're doing. :] lol

Thanks for your comments. The option for SinglePlayer will still be present.

We will most likly give the possibility for having a private world, so you can invite friends.

You should make a singleplayer and a multiplayer, that may be time consuming, but i like to play alone, not with people, so i would like a singleplayer version more, like many people.

Sounds good! Multiplayer is what some of the best survival games lack!

Keep up the good work!

Glad to hear you are doing single player as well. I certainly wouldn't play if i HAD to play with other people. I also love the idea of having private worlds.

Really looking forward to this game. You should all get Kickstarted so you can quit your jobs and just work on this! =)

I was looking for wilderness survival games, and I came upon this - it seems like it would be really fun. However, all the posts on every website about this game are really old, so I'm wondering - Is it still being developed?

Looks like project is dead, no announcements from devs in last 2 years. shame, seemed original
