Description

A puzzle solving game of laser light beams, refraction, reflection and mixing. Pit your wits against the maniacal artificial intelligence Finley in this reimagining of the unknown and very secret 1960’s human perception tests carried out in top secret hidden bunker laboratories.

History

Finley's - The Colour of Radiation is the latest game under development (Q2-Q3 2021) from the micro indie game studio Duckocide Games. Like many indiedevs, its often an uncomfortable learning curve that big ideas and consequential big games are practically impossible to produce in a timely manner. This game is recognition of this learning and so has been feature scoped to fit into a (at most) 12 month of active development plan (currently shorter than this). Ambition for larger game projects has not diminished. Success with this game will undoubtedly help studio expansion ambitions in the future!

As part of a general objective to better understand the modern indie game market, this game is an endeavour to produce an easy to play (casual) style game drawing on the rich art and thematic style of retro comic books and 1960s/70s extra-terrestrial conspiracy culture and lore.

The game employs a logic/slider puzzle mechanic against an art style backdrop of secret government laboratories. As well as making the game simple to play and both audibly and visually pleasing to players, it's simple ruleset also allows it to tap in to the popular "speed run" player phenomena.

This is not an "endless" game - No, it's a finite set of levels of increasing difficulty (each with different ways to solve). As a much a memory game as puzzler, the want was to blend both mechanics.

Whilst this (indiedb echoed) version of the game is aimed at personal computers. The game play mechanic and style will lend itself towards mobile and handheld console play. Something to pursue in the not too distant future.
