For those that do not know, Cleril Calamity Studios is just a one-man studio. It's run by me of course, Cleril, and I'm currently in college for computer graphics.
Struggling with porn addiction myself I decided to begin developing a visual novel around the idea of what it's like to be a porn addict and everything surrounding that. Addiction is, after all, a mental illness which clouds your entire life.
I began developing it around a year ago but due to my own addiction, college, and other life events I've found it hard to sit down and work on it properly. Having gotten the general basis (the first 5 minutes or so of it done) I decided it was time to at least announce the project to the public in order to better commit myself to work on it and keep progressing.
With that said, I believe it's time to answer a few questions that you might have.
Q: Your last project released, Peekaboo, was free. Is this going to be free?
A: No, this visual novel will not be free. This will be a huge stepping stone both in terms of subject matter the game is handling and in terms of me staying as an independent developer.
The visual novel will not exceed a price of 10 dollars. From what I've looked at most visual novels on the market are between 10-15 dollars.
Q: Is it another RPG Maker game?
A: No. This visual novel is being built using RenPy.
Q: Will this be published on Desura?
A: I've yet to submit anything to the folks on Desura explicitly and will not do so until the visual novel is either done or practically done. The plan is to definitely publish it through Desura. In fact, Desura is the only outlet I plan currently to release this visual novel on.
Q: Is it possible for this to go on Steam or GOG?
A: Steam will never allow any game with its main focus being porn addiction. I have no idea about policies on GOG and can look into it when it gets to the point where I'm actually publishing this visual novel.
For right now, I'm solely planning on Desura for publishing.
Q: When will this be released?
A: I have no idea.
Q: On what platforms will this be released?
A: Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. This of course being due to the fact that I'm using RenPy.
Q: Will this visual novel include porn?
A: The visual novel will include partial drawn nudity. This nudity is not intended to be porn and the visual novel is built around the duality of porn. That is, how porn is both sexy, and not so sexy. There is no explicit content in the visual novel and all nudity shown is 100% drawn and tasteful in nature with regards to the subject matter.
Q: What do you mean no anime-style art?
A: Most if not every visual novel I've ever seen uses anime-themed art. This visual novel does not have a single hint of anime to it. Instead, it primarily has a mix of realistic and abstract oil painting themed art. I will perhaps begin showing some of it's art after I see how this announcement fairs.
Q: What is it exactly that you're offering?
A: I'm taking this question from the perspective of "What do I get for my money?" Here's a list of what you get for the price of, at most, 10 dollars.
- The visual novel, which is planned to last around 1 hour.
- The full soundtrack at 320 K/B sound quality.
- Wallpapers. These will not simply be resized images from the visual novel. They are their own unique drawings.
- Developer commentary concerning my own analysis of the visual novel for those looking for deeper meanings to the art and writing. This will likely be a windows video file and not accessible in the novel itself.
No additional fees for anything extra. You get all of the above for 10 bucks tops.
I believe that about covers what I'm willing to reveal for now. I eagerly await the response from the community and based upon it I will happily reveal more and answer any questions that crop up.

I would love to play this game. I myself am struggling with porn addiction and it gets in the way of my life a lot. I'm getting married in December and I think it'll eventually get in the way even though my fiance doesn't seem to be bothered by it. Also, I enjoy a well-crafted story now and then.
You're very much my target audience. The novel is not about the science behind it (although it will include a txt file with links to secular resources as I myself am not religious and most communities against porn are religious) but about how it impacts an addicts life and what goes into managing the addiction.
I myself am still going strong 2 years into recovery but the process is non-linear and I can manage consistently 5 days at least no porn or masturbation (although I am not a masturbation addict).
Funny you should mention your fiance not being bothered by it. One of the girls you can potentially date in the novel will have that stance. Well, both girls do, but differently.
If you've played Festival then you should know I can certainly craft a story.

You can also choose to be single. Neither woman is necessary for a good/bad ending but they do impact the writing of the ending.
