"A 2D arcade platformer. Hundreds of deaths. Endless frustration. Zero replayability. Simply... a masterpiece."

Post news Report RSS Fantasy Shift Alpha

After a long (or not so long actually) month, we've finally reached a releaseable stage!

Title Screen Alpha

From the beginning of April, to this very day, my small team of developers known as Pixcel Studios, have been hard at work wherever we can in our spare time putting in effort on our first release. We're inexperienced chumps, or at least, we was before this! After a month and a bit of solid screen staring not only have we all turned into cave trolls, but we don't suck as much either! The fruits of all our lolling about is now completely testable too! Here we go Fantasy Shift!

Dying.. Over and over.

One of the first things you'll realise when you give it a go is that this game comes bundled with one main feature. Death.
It wasn't intentional really! But after watching friends and family attempt out platformer it has become clear that most people really suck at games. That or our game is just that difficult! We find it a mixture of both, so be prepared for some frustration as you die repeatedly as you jump out of the way of a turtle or spiky hurdle.

Level 3!

Throughout your playthrough you'll make your way through 5 regular, platformer-esque levels. You'll need to show off your skill (or lack of) as your jump over hurdles, collect coins, keys and try not to be burnt alive by the mass of fire. There is a lot. Along the way, look out for our two cute little baddies. They are classic fantasy enemies, you know you just can't get enough of the big green slime! Or the turtle!

2 Is spikey.

In and amongst our crudely made animations we hope you'll find the charm and love we've tried to invest into this beginning project. We know it isn't much yet, but for the experience we began with, and the time it's taken us, we believe we've improved in leaps and bounds! After you've played through the first 5 levels, you're in for a fun surprise, as the action comes into play.
From a combat-free platformer, this game turns into an action-packed firefest that'll keep you on the edge of your seat (and perhaps push you off it if you die right at the end).
We tried to vary up the mechanics by including in a large boss fight, nothing like anything else you've experienced in the game before. I mean c'mon, who doesn't want to play as a wooly rhino shooting laser balls at a giant turtle. Am I right?

An epic showdown.

We've tried to fill as much content as possible into this release, so expect everything from a title screen to music, to action-packed levels to a high score system!
That's not to say there aren't things we have yet to include though. In the near future we want to include other new things such as tutorial levels, dialog cut-scenes, options, SFX and extra animations. Our main character is quite lacking in that department.

Controls

Back to the main point at hand, we have put so much effort into this first release and would love it if you guys - the community - would take out the time to test this out for us, as well as give us feedback. It really does mean a lot. Not to mention we need to fix any bugs you guys might find for us!

Raining blood. And fire.
