Ethios: Valiant Plume Saga
...Is meant to be a long-form epic taking place over the course of many entries.
The world of Ethios is at peace. The people are protected from danger by the Shieldbearers, a wide-reaching force of heroic adventurers that travel the lands and deal justice to whatever dark forces rear their heads.
A young girl named Ellie has a chance encounter with the Errant Hero Adelaide- one of the leaders of the Shieldbearers. Spurred on by this meeting, Ellie dedicates herself to training in order to become a heroic figure just like her.
Years later, the unthinkable happens- the Shielbearers fall apart, and the peace they maintained is shattered.
As the world falls into anarchy and disarray, Ellie decides to move out and give what help she can- gathering allies under the banner of the Valiant Plume.
Hello there! Been a while, eh?
After a couple of years of a detour, I'm finally back on this project. The reasoning for my putting it aside was a matter of scale- I thought that whatever I did with it, it would end up too big to actually finish.
Now, however, I've realized that I can make a long-term, large-scale epic sort of story and release it in smaller episodes or arcs, which actually mitigates the original issue I had.
At current, I'm plotting out the entire story, from beginning to end. If I have the entire thing planned out, I can figure out how to divide it up and make it less daunting.
So huzzah!
In regards to story stuff, it turns out that my concept for the Shieldbearers was somewhat holding it back. They, as an omnipresent peacekeeping force, were limiting my options for the tale. Once I made the plot about what happens what that peacekeeping force disappears, however, my options just multiplied exponentially.
So more huzzah!
Look forward to seeing more from me in the coming weeks.
Certain changes to the plot the first game follows resulted in a new title and logo
So I've decided to stop not doing stuff and actually start not not doing stuff by finally getting around to building a level. This one in particular is...
I've gotten enough progress to show you an extremely early demo of the game. Check it out!
Put together a decent flight prototype with mostly-complete controls and stuff. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think!
A little, super-early test of the flying controls; not the best locale for it, but unfortunately I lacked a decent outdoors area. You can actually see...
Had to redo a few things, but IndieDB has to reuathorize every upload so I couldn't edit the other one.
Second version of the demo, with a bit more content added. A number of bugs were fixed and some alterations were made.
A really early demo of the game to show off how it plays and looks! It's likely that there are a few bugs remaining, but I did manage to quash a good...

The redesigns are very well done ...would like to see the new models in action in a video.
Thank'eh! I'll attempt to throw something together sometime soon.
Wow. This is fkcking amazing. I cant wait for more, and I love the combat system, thank you for making this.
Thanks, man! Glad to hear it!
Will there be free roaming or will it be mission after mission ?
The former; you can wander about as you please between traveling to 'mission' areas, like modern Zelda games.
How many people work on this project?
It's mostly just me. The only thing I can't do is the sound and music, so I've got some help with that; Sam English is going to compose, and Hyperduck Soundworks is going to handle the sound effects.
Ok this was unexpected ...only one guy?
Wow, my respect.
The textures look sometimes a tiny bit too low-res, but to think one guy did all this AND is coding the whole stuff is impressive.
I wish I could do the same for my project ...but coding is for me completely incomprehensible.
Thank'eh! Coding was rather difficult for me too, at first; I'd decided that I'd just start, and learn along the way using Unity's scripting resource. It's worked out pretty well thus far, methinks.
