ERA is a top-down 2D online role play game originally created by members of former dutch gamestudio and community for RPG game creation "Solarsoft". Built in Visual Studio on top of XNA, MongoDB and Scriptmonkey. The rpg can only be played online and is also a tech demo for the programmers. We built a distributed server system (eventually consistent) with rich world system such as global weather and extensive AI. The abstract: In a world where two major powers involved into a comprehensive battle, where magic and technology strike each other with what they got, you try to find a way to wealth, power or happiness. Alva, a world immersed in chaos, awaits the arrival of a new hero; it's savior. Will you lead your followers to a glorious victory or profit from the knowledge left by the ancients? Your future awaits...

Description

These are level ambiance shots from one of the regions called Dublith County. Weather effects are not in place, but they will be in later media. The levels where captured in the level editor, which doesn't yield the same result as the actual engine, but it comes close.

Next to mountains, fields, forests, villages and beaches, these humongous lakes are part of Alva’s scenery. The lake you can see here can be found in Dublith County. It just looks like a bug puddle of water, but a closer look might yield some unexpected mysteries to be seen. Ask yourself: Why is there so much growing in this lake and while it’s so filled with vegetation, it seems that animals are almost abundant in existence. But more importantly, how got all this water over here in the first place? Unravel the secrets of Lewa to become a real Lewan or better yet to better understand the people around you. With the trading route connecting this lake to Dublith and the other more civilised regions of Dublith County, the lake is passed daily by a lot of people. You might catch some useful information or mere rumours from passing civilians, on your journey to the unknown…

Most of the graphics are part of the RMXP Runtime Package (legal if you bought the editor) which makes it look similar to other (sadly enough mostly low-quality games) but we try to make it work by adding our own sprites and tiles to the game. The idea is to convert all the tiles to 3D models (but probably keeping a top-down view) after which all the content will be custom.
