Apparently, Epilogue is crashing on at least one 64-bit Linux distribution.

This thread is where I will try to fix this, and also I would like some computer details from anyone who either has or has not gotten the game to work on 64-bit Linux. This way we can find out if it is a hardware specific or distribution specific issue, or if it affects everyone.

I am on a sort of vacation at the moment, but once I'm back I will get Linux installed on my 64-bit laptop so I can test things firsthand, since the development loop of sending a build and waiting or a yes/no response is rather long.

Edit:
I have at least one confirmed case of the game running fine on 64bit Ubuntu, so I am afraid the problem lies either with your hardware or with some change you made to the operating system or libraries.

After doing a complete reinstall and installing the x86 libs, I managed to get epilogue working. It took a bit of extra tinkering, as it turns out that iMac + Open Source Graphics driver vs. the proper AMD/ATI one (that's completely useless by the way) has negative side effects on the x86 libs. After installing the "proper" driver, the segfaults ceased.

So basically the combination of: Apple iMac + Ubuntu x64 + x86 libs + OpenSource GFX Driver = Epilogue Crash :)

I'm sure this is an edge case, but perhaps useful down the line none the less.

Thanks for figuring that out! In the least I can direct someone down the line who has the same problem to this post.

Is there a bug list I can browse regarding 64 bit Ununtu 12.04?

I have a relatively fresh install of Ubuntu, have added a few apps from the software center, then installed Desura, selected Flare and installed it.
It can't be launched from Desura and in the shell it spits out:
error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I am not sure if Desura expected a (absent) 32 bit version of this to exist, or if the (installed) 64 bit version cannot be found. Is there a prerequisites list I have not noticed?

That means you are missing a library. You should be able to find out which package for ubuntu gives libSDL-1.2.so.0.
