We are Alcyon Games, a two man video game developing studios based on Concepción, Chile. We want to build stories, create worlds and entertain gamers, like us.
The game came to our minds because of the love we have for Super Metroid, Megaman, Castlevania; and more recent games like Ori and the Blind Forest, Shadow Complex, Momodora, etc.
It all began with us geting out of University and having spare time, it was a simple premise, how would Super Metroid look like and be if it was done with Ori and the Blind Forest 2D graphics?. It all started there, but soon we were embraced by the creative process and so excited about it that we decided to give it our own spin to it, an intriguing story, characters and the relation between them along with the different scenarios Aida Nebul will have to face.
Pre-production, learning and everything began on 2016.
We aimed for a game like Super Metroid but with Ori and the Blind Forest level of detail in beautiful 2D, we never thought it would be so hard but is paying off.
The art direction taken by Tryintodraw went through a lot of iterations. The main influences over the style are Super Metroid, Blame! (Tsutomu Nihei), H.R Giger, Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), and more.
The music is also influenced by 80-90s classics in anime and videogames. We aim for a score that combines orchestral music with synth instruments. FranciscoFoco, composer of games like Gunpoint, Jamestown, Witchmarsh and Omen of Sorrow; is in charge of the music and sound design.
We both loved Metroid games in our childhood and coincidentally both of us dreamt about making one of our own in the same vein. Metroid never released on PC so we want to play and fill that blank space we always felt as kids.
We hope you guys are as excited as us. We're currently finishing a pre-alpha demo that will present the first minutes of the game with the first boss fight.
