You are a young elemental. Up to this point you have led a simple, uninteresting life. One day, while going about your business, you see a strange light surround you. Suddenly your vision goes blurry, and you feel yourself being pulled through some kind of portal. As your vision clears, you quickly realize you aren't at home any more. Far from it, you're in a strange new Realm, completely unlike anything you've ever seen before. Looking around, you see what appears to be a small meaty creature next to you, wearing what appears to be a funny hat. As the meaty little creature in the hat looks back at you, you can suddenly hear a booming voice in your head: "Elemental, I am a great Wizard! I have summoned you to the Physical Realm to serve me in my quest for the mighty Staff of GOOLWOLOD! You have one task in this realm, keep me alive!" [ A Simple Rougelike, but with a twist. You are the pet ]

If you have a smaller screen resolution than 1920 x 1080, you should download version 1.01 and change the defaults.cfg file to use the smaller font. This should fix any issues with the game screen loading larger than your monitor. We hope to have a linux version up in the next couple of days, as well as an in game options configuration menu (so you don't have to manually edit .cfg files).

There is one thing that might disappoint you: most people don't like escort missions, and Elemental is basically one /as a game/.
Yep, it's definitely a niche game. Lots of people don't like ascii rougelikes either. It's OK, it was originally developed as a 7drl, with an attempt at a slightly unique mechanic, which I think it delivers on, with both the escort mechanic and the 5 schools of elementAL magic mechanic. If we do continue to develop it out in to a fuller game, there will need to be a lot more depth to both mechanics, but I think the idea has some merit
I have someone I know; he doesn't care that it's free, since he wants to see a LP or such before he'll play it himself... :(

Glad to hear it. the ascii graphics in this game are one of the prettiest.
version 1.01 just uploaded. in defaults.cfg comment out the 16x16 font and uncomment the 12x12. should work for you.
The in game instructions aren't very good, hoping to either do a video or writeup soon
The game looks great but the window is too big. Reducing screen width and height in options fits the screen but cuts the screen graphics.
I'm working on an update that will include a smaller tileset. This should fix the problem. It should be uploaded later today.
