Play the survival mini-game that takes you through endless waves of bullet-hell.

History

It all started as a high-school final project for computer science class over 10 years ago. Throughout the years I've revisited the project to rebuild, expand, and go for a commercial quality game release, but had no success. Dyflexion (formerly known as Aberration) is my 4th iteration of the project and will be my first commercially released game.

The first rebuild involved a custom game engine programmed in c++, but a custom game engine was a major road block.

The second rebuild was in Game Maker: Studio, which was nearly feature complete with 12 levels, training level, 3 mini-games, and online leaderboards, but the quality wasn't something I was proud of charging money for, secondly, Steam Green Light was hard to get votes and Desura went out of business at that time, so, finding a suitable store was also out of the picture.

The third iteration was also in Game Maker: Studio, but this time quality was a priority, especially graphics. The game used orthographic 3D graphics. The game failed because Game Maker: Studio was being replaced with Game Maker: Studio 2 ( which didn't support d3d functions that my game was using ) and there was no long term support for the original engine, moreover, modules to port to other platforms were no longer available for the original engine.

Dyflexion now uses Unity. It continues to use orthographic 3d playing field, but now with a background rendered by a perspective 3d camera to give the illusion of flying through space. The engine switch was a gift and curse. Learning a whole new engine brought many setbacks, but also opened the game up to new possibilities.

Features
