It is the year 2246, during height of a massive interplanetary rebellion of all human colonies throughout this part of the galaxy. Currently, almost every human civilization throughout the galaxy is under the iron fist of the Erebus corporation, which people are increasingly showing dislike for in recent years.
The planet Sigmund and its moon Signy in the Baldur system are no exceptions to this. The conflict on Sigmund has escalated to the point where the Erebus corporation has been deploying robots to fight in place of human soldiers, and this is really becoming an issue for the rebels, as it seems they are about to lose the war for the planet. Who would have guessed that the hero for the rebels would be a rejected droid from the Erebus corporation?
There was a new line of more intelligent robots produced by the Erebus corporation, thinking the higher intelligence would assist in battle. However, the robots were realizing what the Erebus corporation was doing to people and many of them switched sides. When Erebus was made aware of this, they purged these robots to stop them from switching sides. Unit E339 and only a few others were able to avoid this purge, and now fight for the rebels.
As Unit E339, battle a mix of human soldiers and robots in a heated, bloody war, with the goal of removing all Erebus corporation control from the planet Sigmund and its moon. This will help promote the well being of the civilians of Sigmund and Signy, and will weaken the control the Erebus corporation has on other planets.

Droid Uprising has finally been released. After about nine months of development, it is finally ready to be played. The game does have difficult gameplay, so if you like a good challenge in a game and have noticed the lack of difficulty in games these days, you might want to check it out. It is right now on itch.io for $3.99 however it will be put on sale for $2.99 frequently. There is both a windows and a linux version for the game.
Seeing that this game has been released, there is currently a sequel in development. So far the animations and graphics in the sequel are far superior to those of this game, however there is not currently a page dedicated to it. After it is ready for screenshots, there will be a page dedicated to it for everyone to possibly compare this game to it.

This game has good concept but it has many problems and needs alot of polishing. My problems with this game are:
1. Droid's default ability is shoot diagonal but after getting gun, his shot is horizontal
2. Continuing #1, droid can shoot while jumping but with gun, he can't
3. Snipers in level 3 and level 4 can shoot droid's back while droid can't shoot them
4. Blocking area for tree need to be consistent. Droid can walk below the tree but not on middle part of the tree
5. What am I supposed to do against the killer tree? I can't shoot it nor jump out of it
6. Droid lose his gun when entering next level part
7. The small bots in level 2 are too many! droid can't jump over all of them
8. There's a bug which respawns the sniper even though it has been shot before (Doesn't seem to happen often)
9. Why can't droid wield machine gun?
I wish the next update would have fixed all of those. Also, I hope it have updated control as current control scheme is bad IMO. I prefer using W or up to jump and a key to shoot
Alright so now that I have the time I will clarify some of these issues for you. I will admit that a lot of them are from lack of clarification by me, so I guess that's something I have to fix.
1- When the droid has the gun, you can shoot the horizontal shot with the left click, however it is less powerful. You can also shoot the more powerful diagonal shot by right click.
2- While jumping, you are not able to shoot with the gun and that is intentional, but you can still shoot the diagonal shot described above.
3- What I might do is maybe allow the droid to throw a grenade backwards or something like that, but that might take time.
4- I think what I might do is make the part you can walk through a different color than the rest of the tree, that might fix that.
5- This one is lack of clarification from me. My beta testers, (the other two members of Twin Jaguar Studios) had the same issue and I told them what to do, which is to go right in the middle of the tree, where you are not vulnerable.
6- Keep in mind that the gun allows the player to take damage once before being vulnerable, there are some levels where it would be unbalanced and broken if the player was allowed to have the gun, so this one is intentional. You may not notice this, but the levels with lots of static threats tend to not allow the player to have a gun. If I want the player to be able to have a gun in a level, there will be a gun there.
7- Since there are no physics for the x axis on the player, you can jump over all of them. What you can do is shoot your diagonal shot, kill one of them, and use the gap to make another gap and jump to that gap an so on.
8- Alright you got me there, that is an actual bug that I need to fix.
9- I am still unsure how i would balance the machine gun. That would not be hard to add, but I don't know how to make it balanced.
I can easily change the jump key so it works for space, up and w, and what keys should shoot also work for? I personally prefer shooting with the mouse as I play lots of fps games, so I guess I never considered that.
Thank you for the interest you have in the game, it shows that people are playing it after all. This version is in very early stages, so there are many bugs, but I will work out as many of them as possible.
When I have a tad bit more time later tonight, I will clarify with some of these concerns, but anyways thank you for the feedback. I apologize for so many bugs in the game, I will try to deal with as many of them as possible.
To all potential players, please provide feedback as it might help me make the game better. Silence doesn't do much for me in terms of player feedback.
I apologize I promised a download link by the end of August but I'm running a bit late right now, but I assure you all I am working on it as I type this to polish it a little bit more for you.
Level 4 is almost done, and when it is, There will be a download available to play. Keep in mind, the game is still in its early stages and will not feel finished. This will be a mere glimpse of what Droid Uprising is all about.
I suffered a little setback with this game. I lost about two hours of work because of it. If I had been less experienced than I am, I would have lost more. To all potential indie devs out there, please stay organized and back up your work often, totally worth the extra time it will take.
If you guys like what you see for Droid Uprising, wait 'till you see what I have planned for Droid Uprising 2, its gonna be great.
I plan on having a test version download available by the end of August for everyone interested.
