DreadChase is a 6 degrees of freedom combat/stealth game set in space. You are protecting your warp-capable base from a massive hostile armada that is searching for you. If the hostile fleet gets close enough and detects your base then they will lay siege to it. To survive you must stay ahead of them, disrupting enemy outposts, stealing crucial supplies and trying to outrun their ships. Survive long enough and you may be able to identify vulnerabilities in the pursuing fleet! DreadChase is balanced by consequences instead of scarcity. Attacking hostile forces and structures in a direct assault can prove effective yet will provoke a dangerous response. Sneaking around with minimal thruster correction and disrupting subsystems can be equally effective though difficult to execute. DreadChase accommodates a wide range of playstyles in catering for both full covert and overt gameplay.

Description

Gameplay footage along with me explaining some of the concepts and mechanics involved. The game has a lot of exotic elements. Reaction to it so far has been very positive though a lot of the concepts need some explanation, hence videos like this one. The content in this video is similiar to what I was demonstrating live to attendees at PAX Australia. PAX was great fun though my voice was utterly destroyed by the end. Talking to so many people non-stop while trying to be heard over the background noise was difficult.

DreadChase is a 6 degrees of freedom stealth/combat shooter set in space. You are in command of a base equipped with a warpdrive and are being pursued by a large hostile fleet. Your enemies are not sure of your exact position and will search for you.

If the hostile forces identify you then they will know that your base is nearby and intensify their searches for your base. If they find your base then they will converge and lay siege to it.

The game is balanced not by scarcity but rather by consequences. If you opt to play very aggressively and shoot everything you see then you had better be moving very quickly as you will be lit up like a christmas tree. Hostile forces are quick to respond and are excellent at high speed chases in confined spaces.

Ammunition and repairs are plentiful but only if you are able to request supply beacons in a safe location. Knowing when to sneak around and when to launch attacks is key to playing well.

I'm also keen on distribution via the prominent DRM-free distribution services, notably Desura.
