Deus Ex Machina in an exploration into a fan remake and modernisation of the original in Unity, redesigning systems and game mechanics to conform to modern iterations of the franchise and the genre as a whole. Not designed to be an exact remake of the original but instead and evolution of it with the intention being at this early stage to produce a reimagined Liberty Island as a portfolio piece.

Description

I find the concepts created for DX MD cities really interesting. There's alot of information and hidden detail that can be observed and themes that are subtly presented to the viewer.

The most immediate to me is the juxtaposition of gothic and renaissance cathedrals and very new towering churches. A reminder that technological process through time lends to new construction techniques, and that buildings employing these gradually grow through the citiscapes of older buildings that where once cutting edge, gradually changing a cities identity.

Not a big fan of that thing built around the Eiffel Tower. I assume that it was added to make the cityscape look more futuristic but I feel that it makes the scene less relatable to the viewer.

Finally graffiti, aug related graffiti to be exact. In older and more rundown areas of DX in 2052, it would be good to see some remnants of these thoughts scribed onto the walls, especially in the catacombs. But not to be overused though.
