Deus Ex Machina in an exploration into a fan remake and modernisation of the original in Unity, redesigning systems and game mechanics to conform to modern iterations of the franchise and the genre as a whole. Not designed to be an exact remake of the original but instead and evolution of it with the intention being at this early stage to produce a reimagined Liberty Island as a portfolio piece.
There will be a number of vests that the player is able to equip. These scale from basic contemporary examples useful against small arms fire and bird shot, to highly advanced recently experimental varieties able to withstand most ballistic projectiles. Just like the original, these vests decrease the damage taken by the player by a certain percentage.
Unlike how they operate in the original, where you basically had a timer for their use, in DXM they are able to be equipped by the player for an infinite amount of time, but degrade as they take damage, to the point where they offer no protective value at all. Agents with the environmental skill reduce the amount that the vest degrades therefore increasing the total amount of time they can use it for.
