"Der Bahngigant" is a reworked and expanded European version of A-Train 9, a Japanese core business simulation. Originally developed by Artdink, Homegrown Games was in charge of creating a European version in 2011-2012 for the German publisher UIG who had obtained the publishing rights for Europe. Homegrown Games and tom.io expandeded the game by several custom maps and a campaign "Save Greece", in which the Greek mainland and some of the major islands were built from scratch with all major cities, transport routes and industries. And of course all major business problems, debts and efficiency leaks. In contrast to the "Greece Bashing" that was present in German mass media at the time of development, the campaign emphasized clever investements instead of austerity measurs to solve the crisis. Due to the huge success of "Der Bahngigant" in the German core players market segment, Homgrown Games was contracted to develope an AddOn called "Megaports", which got released in Fall 2012.

Description

Despite the outdated visuals, Der Bahngigant was known for atmospheric and "moody" screenshots. The player was also capable to take seat in ANY vehicle on the map and drive through the entire world in first person view.
