Dead of Day is a modern day Dungeon Crawler game in the style of Dungeon Master and The Eye of the Beholder. The game focusses on the important decision making that you’d need to consider in an world hit by disaster. Who do you save? Who do you risk for the greater good? Is rescuing someone more important than gathering resources for the group? You make the decisions for better or for worse. You also get to choose who stays to protect your base and who goes out on a mission. Do you leave your best people behind to protect your home, risking the fact that the people who go out on a mission might compromise it’s success. Or do you take the best people with you, increasing the risk that your base could be overrun.

Description

A stream of our new game in development called "Dead of Day", which is a Dungeon Crawler game in the style of Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder.

This video shows us putting together some elements of the HQ screen, mainly the HQ Upgrades screen, where you will purchase various items to upgrade your base. We have made good progress over the last week and the core code for this screen is nearly complete. This work has involved in getting the Cabin screen data sorted, once that is complete it will be relatively straight forward to get the rest of the data in place for the other HQ's. We won't be showing those screens being put together as there have to be some surprises :D

More data intensive work will be required for when we need to save this data to a save file so the player can come back in at any point and continue where they left off.

We had some issues using Parallels on Mac for this recording, sometimes copying/pasting/dragging and dropping doesn't work :)

The video has been sped up to shorten the length.

Game is already in development, but we thought we would start creating videos of the code/development side so you get an idea of the work involved. Note the game is still pre-alpha and so things are likely to change.

We used a product called "Clickteam Fusion 2.5 Developer" to make this game. Dead of Day will be released on PC/Mac and mobile devices.
