Updated to the latest patch available today - ran the game, screen goes black, mouse cursor no-longer responsive - PC has crashed...

OK - it's a fluke - restart and try again - EXACTLY the same result.

Hacking through the Event log, there's not much in there but what I'm seeing suggests that the AMD Catalyst Drivers (latest 13.1) are crashing rather spectacularly - and almost instantly the moment I run the game.

I'm not really deadly keen on doing that again - hard-resetting my PC isn't healthy!!

Any ideas or is this a write-off??

p.s. no, it's never done anything like this before with Dawnstar or anything else - and the speed with which it crashes (seconds after launch the screen is black and the mouse stops responding) suggests it's down to Dawnstar???

p.p.s. running 1920x1080 on a GPU with only 512Mb of RAM which means, if you're not allocating stuff correctly, you could be running out of GPU RAM - but nothing else has thusfar complained...

Sorry didn't see this thread. Are you still having this issue? Have you downloaded any of the newer patches?

Do you have any problems with other games? Generally speaking this game is very light on the GPU because of how Unity3D works. We often never hit more than 100-150mb of video card ram being used.

I have to admit I uninstalled it at that point, not really wanted to force-reboot my PC all that often.

Played dozens of games since - no issues - I'll get around to trying one of the newer patches at some point perhaps - when I'm feeling braver...
