You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.

OMFG NOBODY CARES IF YOU'RE FIRST!!! ~.~
Lol ya'll got trolled by the Dutchman.
As long as you reply to his comment, it means that you care, DeathReaperGrim...
Anyway, the bump mapping makes the wall look like it's shining... But the same effect happens in other games...
That's how RL works, too. Ya ever look at a wall like that? It's kinda shiny.
(legitimate post)
It has gloss maps, that's why. I added it because it looks sweet.
@tnk_x5000: Well, kinda... but I never really cared until his "first" comments got on my nerves, alright?
Looks amazing, but it looks like the door is overly bump mapped.
i don't think so, sir.. just old and rusty :)
looks really great - love to see that you are going to add stuff like that. the fact that you have time to play arround with shaders shows me that you are coming closer to an ending now, hu? ;D
I have to agree with CooL, it looks like the door's made out of clay o.O Remember guys, subtle bump mapping is a good thing some times (lots of times)
too me it looks like the door is heavily rusted under an old coat of paint which actually would look like that.
No one paints a door so much that the paint gobs up, and rust typically will go inwards with pitting and whatnot. Rust wouldn't gob up that much on a door that old.
if it was a basic iron of steel door yea after years of rust building under the paint then yes it would look like that.

Very nice looking. I don't consider myself a graphic *****, but I still like to say that the bump shaders and light effects look awesome. Great job.
The normal map on the wall seems muddy.
Thats ******* awsome!
Light source needs to be moved outwards in relation to the lightbulb. Other than that, exellent work.

bloody knife right there, does it get blood once you stab a enemy? or is it bloody by the time you got it?
The brick bumpmap is **** dear raMpul :(
It's awesome how so many here talk about *Bump looks like *****, not at all giving any information about what exactly looks bad about them. How about a few more information?
Not that it matters, the team won't change it anyway. But seriously, it looks pretty good. If you're answer to my question is *it looks not realistic*, then keep in mind that this is still a virtual experience.
bump map looks like ****? That **** really looks great! If some people dont like, lets see if those people are able to create one themselfs... -.-"
Its hard to make normal maps look super good for some objects in source engine since it doesent support specular maps.
I always thought bumpmapping isnt a good idea in Half-Life. To be honest, most times I saw it, it was used too excessive (i.e. Paranoia, although the rest of the mod was outstanding of course!). Its the same as with detailtextures, or this massively overpowered HDR/Bloom-effect I've seen some time ago in another project. Almost every graphical improvement in HL-mods I have seen before, was not balanced very well.

Perhaps its a bigger problem to put strong bumpmapping on lowres textures or on the wrong materials (like your brickwall I guess).
But I think it can be done. There is always a good compromise between too much and too less shading.
I am sure you guys can find it.
Penumbra anyone?
This is just beautiful.
BEAUTIFUL ART.
the knife have blood after you kill somebody? if i am right, thats cool!
Holy ****
I sorta like that alley.
