You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers. Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head. Where do "they" come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane? The time is up; you can't stay there reading your smses forever. It's time to head out and find the answers. Cry of Fear is a singleplayer modification of Half-Life 1 which brings you the horror you've always been afraid of. It's a total conversion of Half-Life 1, which means it uses NO Half-Life 1 content or other peoples' files. It's all made exclusively by the developers. It also uses new gaming styles that you will rarely find in Half-Life mods, such as advanced cutscenes and other stuff that will be revealed at a later date.
A map I've been working on recently. It uses the textures I made in the videocast 3. If you can't remember, watch it again!
Also, check out the deployable tactical light we've made. You can combine it with the glock in the inventory, to attach it to your gun.

I obviously refuse to go into these dark rooms. Im sure a nasty suprise is waiting behind every friggin corner.
Awesome stuff guys, love the darkness plus the gun-light. Textures so easy and yet so awesome. I am in love.
I don't know if I'll be able to play this mod. D:
This is the kind of atmosphere that feels like there's something behind you.
It's awesome how I get a severe sense of foreboding not just because of the content of the picture, which screams atmosphere, but because of who made the mod.
Sometimes, I wish I could contribute and PlayTest this mod...
Everytime...
I'd love to playtest this mod. Only problems being it ussually takes me around a week to play through a normal horror mod, such as Afraid of Monsters:DC, and thats ussually my sad attempt at speedrunning the mod w/ god mode. At least thats how i did Afraid of Monsters.
But after i played it once, i knew what to expect (in general, not exactally), i knew the kind of aresonal/wep usage i should use, and now i can play Afraid of Monsters and actually take time to look at the detail of the mod.
AoM:DC was very good, this looks even better. if you somehow don't have enough playtesters, and your willing to let someone test the mod for...lets say...around 1 month, i could probably give you a detailed description of my pro's/cons.
(buried)
How is this the GoldSrc engine?
and to think i was watching a movie about asylums....damn insanity cages...
wow this looks amazing really good you guys!!!!
Beautiful work. I have a feeling this is going to scare me even more than AoM:DC, and that's not easy to do. It almost looks like there's a noise filter.
At this part in the map I will probably just stand there for about 3 minutes, then quickly run down the hallway and turn around and hope nothing has followed me.
And does the flashlight have any sort of charge/batteries needed?
Yeah would like to know that too, I got really lost on AOM:DC since the batteries runned out really fast on hard.
AFAIK no.
Beautifully eerie. :)
Wait! Isn't that the abandoned hospital in ruMpel's home city?
Pwnage!
Pistol looks sexy! And with a flashlight too!
And you just walking around at places like that for get some textures, raMpul? You are a fearless modder. :O
I've actually been in a real one of these, was very peacefull I have to say :)
You KNOW there's something going to spawn behind you when you walk ANYWHERE in this place. Also HNNNNNNG option to remove grain effect?
There will be an option to turn if off.
Alright good, and great mapping as always by the way :)
unbeliveable
This almost looks like a screenshot taken straight from F.E.A.R.
The lighting, flashlight effect, gun animation, and even textures look just like F.E.A.R. 1.
except, imo, it looks WAY cooler than f.e.a.r.1. Less cartoony. I love the gritty feel.
This kind of reminds me of that corridor in the last map of L4D's No Mercy campaign. Only L4D was a big zombie fragfest, but here I doubt a car headlight's going to help keep the shadows at bay.
This attention to detail..I cant wait too see what you could accomplish in a more modern engine :)
I will shoot all bullets when something move, so hey you could make rats and stuff who are not enemy but player will waste ammo :D
