Oh and did we mention you can also download CrossCode now? So you can play it without being online?

>>> Download Now! (Windows only) <<<

Or go the downloads section here on IndieDB an download there! (It might take a while until the download is up)

If you liked the demo, consider voting for us for Indie of the year 2014!
You can vote here: Click Me! (Or Scroll up and press the big red button if you're on the game page)

So what do you get in this demo? Here's an overview.

Story Mode
plotA first look at the plot of CrossCode.

Puzzle Mode
puzzleA small peek at new puzzle mechanics.

Exploration Mode
exploreVisit Autumn's Rise, level up, train your skills and beat the ultimate challenge.

Thank you all so much for staying with us, helping us make the game better and being so supportive. We love you all and we hope you'll have plenty of fun with this new demo!
Over the past 2 years we got from a simple idea to a full blown Action-Puzzle-RPG. This is ridiculous. In a good way! And we won't just stop there.
We don't want to overload the release with too much information so I'll stop right there. We will talk a bit more about the demo release, our future plans and, of course, your feedback next week! But a small note: We will change the look of the landing page for the game over the next week.

So until then:

Happy Ball throwing from Radical Fish Games

played the demo and I admit I liked it save perhaps for the bit with the ennemies chasing you

Ran into a room where I was supposed to lure an attack from an ennemy out before being able to pass, maybe giving thoses ennemies HOMING ranged attacks might have been a bit much at this point in the game where they'll one shot you for 800 damage ?

Hi! Yeah, a couple of players had problem with this part. You are actually not supposed to lure/dodge those enemies. There is a way to pass them by taking shortcuts, jumping over boxes and containers. Anyway, we will try to improve this part.
Thanks for the feedback!

Where is my jaw? I can't find my jaw!!
This is truly amazing! All of you have done such a great job on updating the game, the sounds are awesome, the gameplay has been tweaked, the visuals are great, the story is gripping, I just can't stop going on about this game. Anyways a few notes:

-Cube tree hype! It is a sign!
-That guy in the cabin playing that one demo constantly was pretty much me up until the release of this.
-MMOG? Would we be seeing a multilayer option in the future? The way you set the game up really keeps that a possibility with different characters as the players.
-While I do love this game, there is some small tweaks that could really improve this game. One of which being is, where is the quick save! As a IndieDev myself, I see how that could have been easily forgotten, but for a game like this, I find myself reaching for the F5 key for it to do nothing. No biggy for now!

All in all, great release RadFish, I will make sure to put a tracker on my jaw next time! ^_^

Hey!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked it!

We actually sometimes talk about multiplayer. But it's a whole new level of features we need to add to make it work. So we don't plan to add this for the release. However it the game does well and people want multiplayer. We could make an extension for PvP Matches and so on.

Quick-Saves are something we could add. We don't want to separate the controller player from the keyboard player to much. And buttons are area on the gamepad. It's probably something we need to talk about to decide on how we could add this without prioritizing one control type to much.

Again, thanks so much!

Hmm, I see how that could be a problem. To be honest, I have yet to try out using a controller. I'll defiantly try it out, I'm already on my 5th play through on this demo, and have almost got to all chests in explore. Puzzle mode I have yet to test out.

5th playthrough? Wow awesome! There is a small bug with the chests. You can't actually find all of them right now... :D Will be fixed in the new version though!

Sorry to post this here but I found a bit of a bug in Autumn's rise

on the map with the square tree

Upon entering the area, head straight up until you get to the river, you'll see there is a green leaves tree between two rocks right next to the river, go along the right rock towards the river and try to jump over the river along the rear side of the rock, mid-jump try to head down and you'll land on a invisible platform just behind the rock (seems the stepping sound's the same as concrete ?)and upon trying to leave the platform and go to the water to respawn on the shore the game will make you fall in the water 7 or 8 times instantaneously provoking instant death....

Dunno where to put this So I'll leave it here

Thanks for the bug report! This is related to another issue we're working on! But wow, the way you found that bug :D Impressive!

Also

By holding right click

then pressing space

then releasing right click while keeping space pressed

you are able to run around with your guard up at normal speed, while everything is in slow motion

The guard still works (though stuck in the direction it was facing originally)
The charge attack is still going
The movement speed is the same as the normal run as though you're not charging a shot

Releasing space triggers the special attack linked to your shield charge as per normal

And everynow and then the game gets confused when you level up in an area, spend your point, then die, upon respawning you get your point back but the spent point is still there...

And sometimes the branches get confusing and don't seem to remember wich skill I have on so he selects both at once and has a "hacks" sign at the dividing point...

Dang it! We thought we have fixed this. Guess the creeper skill is back again! :D

And while I'm here

Repeatedly dying at the very start of autumn's rise makes the game give you two levels up over and over again making the game load you up with CPs to no end

I just tried and was able to have the full skill tree unlocked at level 3

supposedly connected to that "creeper skill" or something...

Sorry to spam posts here but huh is it normal that on the blue edgehog map:

1: there's two rocks overlaping in the middle of the top most side of the map ?

2: why does the bottom right wall has a wall in it that has a hole in the wall leading to a point where the game whites out to spawn back at the entrance of the map ?

also is the demo going to be further updated when elements are added and whatnot ?

Okay this is a weird one

SO....

Go to the map with the guy that talks about fishing system and get to the right exit there is a space between the bottom pillar marking the "door" and a rock, you can run though this space and your character will leap off the map and fall, upon respawning

You level is reset to 1

You are given 4 Blue SP guges (instead of 2)
4 purple gauges (instead of 2)
your HP is in the negatives
your Circuits are left untouched
AND YOURINVENTORY IS WIPED

Hi there!

We have found that the level reset bug happens whenever you load the game and respawn (after dying, falling out the map or drowning) before leaving the map/

Can you try the same thing you describe, but leave and reenter the map before that? If the level is not resetted in that case, it should be this issue.

We already fixed this bug and will publish a fixed version toward the end of the week.

Also: Circuit skills are currently not "unlearned" when respawning or loading a game. We will also fix this for the next release.

Thanks for the feedback!

Well I went in the game to test it out

Appearantly dying and respawning before jumping off does absolutely nothing

However saving and loading in that specific area and THEN jump off does trigger it

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
Hydremajor
Hydremajor

Repeating it will wipe your inventory but not further rise your SP gauge

I also confirm that jumping into the hole in the wall thats in the "Hedgehods Den" at the bottom right part of the map also triggers it if you save and load on this specific map

Also I just realised: on the map with the "busy guy" the bottom left door has a broken pillar, you can run over the sprie of the bottommost as though half of it just drawn on the floor and the other half on some unclimbable box ?

hey, sorry for the late answer!

As Lachsen said, we hopefully fixed the bug. I also took a look at the pillars and they where indeed on the wrong level. So this will be fixed in the new version too!

So yeah I finally got to finishing the crosscode demo at 100%

(turns out I actually had found all boxes before I just forgot to find the boxes AGAIN after I got a bit too excited after flattening the crabby deluxe in 22 seconds...)

Actually

Bugs aside I must I'm sort of concerned as to how the game's going to be balanced

My first concern is with the Circuit board

The current Circuit board requires a total of 80 level ups to max out, thats a LOT of levels already and autumn's rise caps out on EXP around lvl 17 to 18, past this point everything gives 1 EXP regardless of using "Winner's pride" or not

My second concern is certain skills

While some skills are very useful it most of the time turns out wich skill you SHOULD use is a complete no-brainer

what I thought could be a sort of "high tier" buff circuit each branch would have

for example the barrage tree would give access to a pasive buff that allows to fire extra projectiles, get it once to fire 2 normal balls, get it twice to fire 3 normal balls, and thoses buffs would actually stack onto the skills, so if you get two points of that buff in and use the Barrage ability then you fire 3 balls per idividual shot, significantly ramping up the damage output

Also the level cap intrigues me...just how far is the level cap going to go considering the demo only has under 10% of the finished content ?

Or do you plan to make level up milestones where once that point is past you obtain more CPs per level up ?

example

Level up between lvl 1 to lvl 10 = 1 CP

Level up betwen Lvl 11 to lvl 20 = 2 CP

etc etc etc....

Balancing is an ongoing process. So the demo does not show the final balancing at all. We especially increased the CP your needed so you try out more possibilities and not simply activate all skills at once. The real game won't have that kind of scaling ;) We also plan to let the community help us with the balancing after we start the early access thingy. So don't worry, we're not simply leaving skills as they are.

However, we won't ever add a passive skill that lets you throw 2 or more balls at the same time. This is too powerful (trust me, we tested :D). You can only access the neutral tree so I can see how it's hard to judge what were up to. Each tree comes with and advantage and a disadvantage. For instance, while the damage output is lower overall in Cold, you can unlock a 360° shield. Combine this with the counter mechanic we're going to build in and it makes up for a very strong element to use against relentless enemies (Think Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep).

Level cap is 99! Nothing to spoil here. You'll get more CP as you level up. There is a curve to the amount of CP you get per level up so it's just as you guessed ;)
