Critical Point: Incursion is a standalone game created with Epic Games' Unreal Development Kit. Incursion is a semi-realistic, arcade-like first-person shooter combining tactical gameplay with arcade-style speed.Utilising a wide variety of modern weaponry and set in fantastically rendered locations, the Mercenaries and Special Forces meet at a critical point! In a rush-based mode as seen in first-person shooters such as CoD4, Battlefield 3, Counter Strike and TO:AoT, teams are given level-specific objectives in round-based scenarios! CP:I is aimed at a large player base, offering a huge platform for competitive clan and league play, allowing individuals to shine and capture their glory regardless of how many hours they have played. It accentuates skill vs luck, aiming vs spraying, etc. We differ from the competition by having no unlockables, no RPG's, claymores, tanks, jets or other vehicles. Just PURE infantry combat action!!

Report RSS Mercenary Character: First Look

Only a little later than we promised we bring you the first look at our Mercenary character model. We knew that we needed at least two character models in our first beta release... after all how else would you be able to tell the teams apart? You have already seen the Special Forces model from Lobedoe and now we have the Mercenary guy who has been skillfully modeled and textured by Nizza.

"Hey, Nizza here. It has taken a while to get around to it but we have finally got a merc to show you guys. He is currently sitting at 7322 tri's and fits on a single 2048 texture map. We have also been lucky enough to have the incredibly talented InAction around to help us out with rigging and animation recently. What all this means is that this model is currently in game complete with default animations. On top of that, Proto has been coding away and we should have some great in game shots to show you all in a little while."

This is a render of the low poly model which is the actual base model that is rendered in game. Just as we showed in the weapon release a couple of months ago we then apply a normal map on top of that. All together this makes the great character that you will see in game.

The high poly mesh was created from scratch using Maya and ZBrush. The high poly model is used to generate the normal maps for the low poly mesh, this gives the appearance of all the small details like the creases in the clothes. The texturing of the model was then all done in Photoshop. He has been carefully designed so that we can add all sorts of different attachments in the future. Expect to see full armour as well as some cool looking attachables coming up in future releases.

See you on the servers,
Your TA Team.

I like the newspaper, but when you spelled 'guerrilla wrong', it made me wonder if it was intentional or an accident.
