There are a few things worth bearing in mind before you play:
⦁ This is an alpha build of 2 levels, a boss battle and a portion of the hub world, as such it doesn't represent the final product.
⦁ This build is optimised for use with a controllers.
⦁ In the final game levels are unlocked starting from 'Bunny, I Shrunk The Chimp' going anti-clockwise around 'The Space Between Time's' central circle; as such difficulty will scale in that direction!⦁ Baroness Samedice's boss battle will reset upon death in the final game, however here that function is disabled for testing purposes. Canonically it is opened by collecting enough Ancient Stones up to that point. For testing purposes it is open by default.
⦁ There is a "controls screen" (press start) that should give a good overview of Clive 'N' Wrench's basic move-set. However, it's also worth noting there are plenty of combination moves that are achieved by combining the basic ones. For example, jumping while sprinting will result in a long-jump, and flicking the left analog stick in the opposite to your movement direction whilst also jumping, will result in a sideflip high-jump!
⦁ A few debug features are left in that won't be present in the final game including a slowmo button and a rudimentary controller map screen.
Although covered largely in 'Bunny, I Shrunk The Chimp', here're what collectibles do:
⦁ Watches represent tears in space time, collect enough of them to fix the continuum and open level portals in the hub world.⦁ Ancient Stones (the gold medallions) are required to unlock bosses, who in turn must be defeated in order to travel to the next era section of the hub world.
⦁ Keys unlock either a safe, lock box or secret door within the level they reside. Find 5 of them to collect your reward!⦁ Carrot cake represents your health, unlike reality, sugar is good for you!⦁ Purple vortex's are checkpoints, you'll respawn back at the last one you've activated.
⦁ To exit a level, simply walk into "Einy" the fridge shaped time machine.⦁ The emote system is now in development, for now you can hold "down" on the D-Pad to take a nap... but there's more to come on that front!
There are also a few do's and don'ts regarding this alpha build, I sincerely ask you try and stick to them please!
⦁ Feedback and constructive criticism would be fantastic because I want CnW to be the best game it can be, but this is not a prerequisite. Please feel no pressure to write an essay! (Feedback is welcome via Patreon or through the forums on www.CliveNWrench.com ).
⦁ Sharing videos or images on social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc) is fine by me, but please try and make it as clear as you can that what people are seeing is from an alpha build, and may not represent the final product!
