City of Steam Original Soundtrack on Sale now!

So the game is quickly approaching its alpha version in mid-July but we wanted to tease you by releasing what must be some of the best music in browser-based gaming. This is, *ahem* *hint* *hint* *hint* *nudge* *nudge*, also a great chance for you to help support the development of City of Steam in this early stage. We’re very proud of how this turned out and know it will add to the already immersive atmosphere of City of Steam.

Be sure to download the City Of Steam music score on iTunes or Amazon (soon to be available on other sites) and continue to support us Indie Artists and Composers…(Quick Plug :p) The album comes with extra tracks not featured in the game.

… with music this good, just imagine what the game will be like?

A Taste and a Lookback

The piece may sound familiar to those who took part in the Sneak Peek Test. After logging into the game and waiting though a few seconds of preliminary loading time, players were taken on a soaring flight over the edge of Nexus, with this song playing in the background. This was quite the compelling start; some players admitted to being mesmerized for hours on end by the panoramic view of the port city as well as the music. Thanks! Check out the “New Start Screen” dev journal for more info on this epic start.

Daniel Sadowski and Us
The music was composed by Daniel Sadowski, who has composed music for a wide variety of titles, video games, films, television projects, etc. His expertise in capturing the emotion, heart, and style and also in adding his own unique touch to every track he has made is what drew us to him.

This brings us to the album we’ve just released, “City of Steam”. The highly immersive and epic score even inspired Dave and the team to make some changes to the port view of Nexus (namely, the Start Screen) and a few other scenes. You may find Dave’s own testimony here on the forum.

Over the past few months, Daniel has remained in close synergy with us to dig for the hidden sound that is echoing in the industrial fantasy world. The exchange of ideas has fuelled both Daniel’s and our inspiration, for the music he has composed motivated us to make subtle changes to the art and level design of certain in-game locations.

But don’t take our version of the events, Daniel’s own account can be read here. This includes older versions and clips with an explanation of how he went about creating music for City of Steam.

So please tell us, which is your favorite? Just head to the forum to discuss!
