What CARTONEROS is about?
CARTONEROS® is a game about leading a crew of characters to collect trash and clean up the environment. The game takes place in a cardboard world with cardboard people, cardboard monsters and everything else built out of cardboard as well. People of this world have not been recycling the cardboard they've used, and so created a shortage of the raw material. This brought the society to a halt, as new cardboard was hard to obtain and usedcardboard was piling up everywhere in the environment as waste.
There is a minor community of waste pickers who see the value of recycling and sweep the environment to collect the used cardboard so it can be recycled. It is the role of the players to lead characters from this community to reach their common goal of cleaning up the environment and to drive the recovery of the environment and the society. Players compete over who collects the most cardboard and spends the least, and therefore is the most efficientcrew leader. These crews are the CARTONEROS®.
Players control their CARTONEROS® all at once and in real time forge tactics to collect and to cut off other players from the remaining cardboard. Players take advantage of the cover provided by the environment, weapons and tools their characters carry, and machines their characters control, to gather as much used cardboard as they can. Each action costs the characters some of their cardboard and needs to be used wisely, so they have some of it left by the time they reach their ship.
