Hello IndieDB fans of the little, overly productive people we call the Buildanauts!
Below is an early look at controlling traffic with traffic lights and barriers on our 2nd Dev Diary video in this series.
A few major features we didn't mention in the video:
The inventory, UI and funds system is not in place yet. When they're integrated, props like the traffic lights will have a value, same with everything else. If you've run out of funds, you can still have a transparent prop in your hand but you can't place it until you have the funds.
Don't worry though, there will be a plethora of things you can do to earn funds, and it won't be about mining to eventually get to currency accumulation either - rather simple things like clearing trees (and planting new ones), destroying rock, building houses, sidewalks, building anything, performing jobs set out by challenges and jobs set out by the Buildanites (townsfolk). Additionally there will be all kinds of other ways to earn funds. After all, you're getting paid to be the construction company for the town you're responsible for creating.
With that said, a few things that might affect your popularity level with the Buildanites (townsfolk) are: destroying sidewalk pieces or roads near their house or destroying anything that would directly affect them, holding up traffic for too long, not putting up barriers before you build the stop lights as you see in this video. By putting up the barriers, you're not causing any traffic chaos.
