"Bugger!" is an old-school top-down shooter with a unconventional theme: employ a range of zany debugging-themed weapons to clear the source-code of bugs! Plenty of explosions and cartoon violence will ensue.
This game is being developed from the ground up in C++, using the open SFML graphics library. As such it can (and will) be cross platform upon release. It will also be free :-)
The finished game will probably look nothing like this, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to dismiss it as rubbish early on, while it still looks and plays very badly ;-P
Changes include:
And a whole lot of other under-the-hood stuff that would be impossible to explain without boring you all to tears :-/ Here's a video explanation of some of the more important additions:
I amplified the microphone and have been experimenting with video editing so it should be a much better cut than last time. Let me know what you think, both of the video and the alpha!
I've finished the auto-tiling system: now when you add or remove pathing the overlaying tiles are automatically readjusted. No more going in and doing...
Today I've released a whole host of new media and an initial Alpha demo. This game has maybe another year 6-12 months of work left to do, but early feedback...
"Bugger!" is moving along smoothly. The engine now supports special effects, so I've made a some more place-holder art to show them off. New screenshots...
A new (early) Alpha version for Windows: should work fine on XP, but there are still a few problems for Vista and 7 (specifically, it will sometimes freeze...
A new (still very early) build with a number of tweaks, fixes and improvements, as well as the auto-tiling system. The Linux version (32 and 64 bit binaries...
Here's a (very very very) early port of "Bugger!" from Linux to Windows systems: included are the 32 and 64 bit binaries and necessary DLLs. Currently...
Here's a (very very) early build of "Bugger!", for your delight and delectation. Currently you can run around shooting stuff, and also modify and save...

Looks promising! The tools look really capable as well.
P.S. Programmer art FTW! ;)
I should probably bring to your attention that the name of your game is a little inappropriate lol because bugger is actually a term used to describe a gay man. lol just thought you should know
The game was originally called "Debugger" but that sounded so boring. Then I remembered my Dad's habit of swearing whenever his code refuses to compile and dropped the 'De'. I suppose using a swear-word as a title is a little... risqué. Then again outside of Australia and England it's not really used, and luckily these two countries have a sense of humour when it comes to such things. Hopefully nobody will be too offended :S
yeah I don't think anyone will unless they have serious grammer issues (Grammer Nazi's lol) may download this when i have the time and check it out.
