When Rosa Blackwell’s only relative dies after twenty years in a coma, she thinks the worst is over. This all changes when Joey Mallone, a sardonic ghost from the 1930s, blows into her life and tells her that she is a medium. Whether they like it or not, it is up to them to cure the supernatural ills of New York in this critically-acclaimed series of point-and-click adventure games.

Report RSS The Xmas Bundle is live!

It is time to spread some Xmas cheer now that the latest Indie Royale bundle is here (that almost rhymes)!

Posted by on

It's that time again - the Xmas Bundle is live and is available at IndieRoyale right now (those with preorders can download or redeem keys at any time).

The six-game Bundle is led off by a multiplayer Windows PC FPS featuring both dinosaurs and Nazis: Dino D-Day! The Steam-ready title, in which you can play both as a velociraptor and as Allied troops, is powered by Valve's Source engine and began its life as a mod.

Next up is Wadjet Eye's The Blackwell Trilogy Remastered, which includes the first three games in the award winning supernatural 2D point-and-click adventure series starring young New York writer Rosangela Blackwell. This specially updated version of the trilogy makes a world premiere in forms including Steam and Desura PC keys, plus a downloadable DRM-free Windows version. The remastered Trilogy includes updated voice acting and a 'five years later' audio commentary track for The Blackwell Legacy, as well as a number of other smaller enhancements.

Also included in the Xmas Bundle is Eets, a cult 2D puzzle platformer for Windows and Mac that was the first ever title from Shank creator Klei Entertainment. Described as Lemmings meets The Incredible Machine, Eets boasts over 100 developer-made puzzles, plus 200+ user-created levels in a bonus pack, and is available for Steam (both PC and Mac) and Desura (PC), as well as in DRM-free PC download form for the first time ever.

Rounding out the initial Bundle titles is Vertigo Games' under-appreciated oil drilling action-sim The Oil Blue. The satirical title has you exploring islands and managing drilling machines, based around objectives set by your employer, the United Oil of Oceania company. It's included in Desura and standalone DRM-free PC versions.

Give the gift of indie games this Xmas! Happy holidays to all.

Just 4 games,
only one of them of high quality.

Honestly IndieGala or Humble gives you more for less..

lol, it's your choice. You're pretty cheap if you buy the humble bundle for less than 3$ but that's up to you...

Not 4, it's actually 6, because The Blackwell is trilogy.

I have preferred the Humble bundle games so far, but it's all up to personal preferences, and with more bundles there's something for everyone :D

And also, I'd say €3 is very affordable even for 1 high quality game.

3 euros for 6 games? Are we indie gamers getting that stingy? :) Great value if you ask me

what the hell is xmas? do you mean Christmas? or does it hurt your delicate sensibilities to write the word Christ?

""Xmas" is a common abbreviation of the word "Christmas". It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but it, and variants such as "Xtemass", originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /ˈkrɪsməs/. The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for "Mass",[1] while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ".[2]

There is a common misconception that the word Xmas is a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas[3] by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas"." - Wikipedia

hollowminds that is quite honestly the biggest bunch of B.S. i have ever read. you keep telling yourself that nonsense. this is the english language i'm speaking here, not 2,000 year old greek.

that is designed to fool Christians into accepting the butchering of the word Christmas, no more no less.

if what you say is true then the people responsible for the "xmas" bundle will have no problem changing it to Christmas then right? because it's what they mean anyway. though i know, and you should, that they won't do that. because they most definitely do despise the name of Christ.

it's funny how my post on another article was censored by this pathetic website for abbreviating the word homosexual into ****, because they didn't want to offend homosexuals, but this very same website has no problem offending the 1 billion Christians on the planet earth by abbreviating the word Christmas. i'm not surprised though, there is nobody more hypocritical than a leftist.

You speak as if everyone in this entire world is Christian. Tolerate others. Retaining objectivity in our pluralistic society is a call for peace.

butchering the name of one billion people's most holiest holiday because they hate Jesus Christ is not very tolerant of folks like you diamondd. but thank you for demonstrating my point about the hypocrisy of the left.

oh and by the way, there are a lot more than one billion people on our fine planet, so err..., no, i don't speak like everybody on this entire world is Christian. hope that helps!

i wouldn't butcher the name of jewish or muslim holy days just because i'm not jewish or a muslim, so i have no problem saying hanukkah or ramadan. who's the one with no tolerance here again?

Actually, the word christ itself is Greek. Christ comes from Χριστός (Khristós) and it means "anointed one" and it is the Greek translation of Messiah. Indeed. Jesus is a Greek name too and is actually a Greek translation of the real name of Jesus: Yeshua. So you say that you're speaking the English language but Jesus Christ is a Greek translation. In fact, Jesus should be referred to as the Messiah Yeshua. Instead, when the gospel was translated into Greek, Yeshua became known as Christ (Messiah) Jesus (Yeshua).

I suppose the same thing happened with someone translating Christmas into Xmas. Xmas can actually be traced back to 1100 when it was written as Xpes mæsse.

Some atheists may call Christmas "Xmas" but it still means the same thing and you can have fun pointing that out to them if they say otherwise.

Χριστός is the correct spelling of Christ in Greek language. Note that the first letter is X. That's where Xmas came from. It's simply an shortened version of Christmas. In fact, 1000 years ago, Christ was written as XP (from the first two letters) or simply X.

The Labarum (Chi-Rho) shows this. The Chi-Rho is a symbol showing an X with a P in the background. Constantine I (first Christian Emperor of Rome) actually used the Labarum as a standard (banner) when fighting in wars.

Please don't feed the trolls. Getting upset over 'Xmas' is a blatent troll attempt.

If he is serious, then he's crazy and/or ignorant of the history about Christmas. We know he doesn't want to hear stuff related to history and fact, so that leaves crazy. Crazy people can't be reasoned with.

Rather underwhelming bundle here.

Guys, you need to slow down with the bundles. You're going to exhaust the market; it's already pretty saturated as-is.

Funny thing. I mentioned this when Indie Royale and that other bundle started up. I was told to stop complaining and that their can never be enough indie. Turns out people are coming around to it.

The problem is that peoples ability/desire to be charitble has limits. As such the more of these 'pay what you want' schemes that will appear, the less likely people are to be charitible. Once almost everyone is paying the minium, there with be a crash and the bundles won't be viable any more. To much of a good thing.

Not overly "oh my god this is awesome!" but still "well this is still an awesome buy so take my money". I agree with the idea you guys may need to slow down a little bit, there's way too many people jumping on the bundlemobile.

That said, thanks again for a bunch of cheap games that look fun. Merry Christmas.

I think IndieRoyale needs to take a lesson from Humble Bundle. Stop packing meh-quality games and start bringing on heavy hitters, and make them available to everybody regardless of OS.

As of this moment, several hours after the announcement of the latest bundle, they've got $805,000 USD and 150k purchases, while right now this Xmas bundle has about 21k purchases and has been going on for longer. And, not only does HiB do Steam keys, they provide DDLs of the games themselves for all three major OSs, and do it DRM-free.
IndieRoyale does not even support Linux for ANY of the games in this bundle; Mac support is only available for one game *in four*.

I'm sorry, but at this point it's blatantly obvious. You need to improve your product; the competition has you beat, hands down.

E: after typing all that, HiB is now at $810k + 153k sales, while IR is still at 20,886.

People who complain about these bundles are extremely pathetic. They are selling these games at less than a dollar a piece yet people still find a way to complain. Seriously WTF!

While I agree this should be more "cross-platform friendly", i consider it a very good bundle; going for the "heavy hitters" would only make more difficult for good but unknown games to get known.

I've a question, would the bonus games (greenTech+ && Shellblast) get on desura?
