Black Powder \\ Red Earth is a 2D isometric tactical action game where players control 2 man cell teams conducting night raids into sprawling non-permissive environments. Inspired by John Hill's classic board game Squad Leader and Bullfrog's Syndicate; the game is class driven, offering a diversity of tactics and strategy without sacrificing run-and-gun shoot outs. It's a game where stealth is a means to approach and assess a target, the player is not punished for killing enemies and collateral damage is accepted as a necessary evil. In short, BPRE is a canvas, with an objective. Not a corridor crawler with pop up targets spawning grenades at your feet to keep you moving along or a stealth game where killing enemies earns you admonishment and empty moral standards.
After 2 years, the storyline of Black Powder \\ Red Earth continues with a new graphic novel series that serves as a companion to the upcoming BPRE game being developed by Echelon Software.
Picking up 6 months after the events in Black Powder \\ Red Earth Volume 4, Cold Harbor Special Operations Contractors run a new kill-capture program targeting jihadists from the Islamic State and paramilitary officers from the Syrian Republican Guard inside a new Kurdish nation-state. With clients ranging from competing interests within the Kurdish government to Saudi Intelligence and the US Department of Defense, each operation serves multiple masters with their own mission statement and agenda to be carried out.

Any good news on this? I've been quite excited for it since a while.
Just checking in to see how things are. Really wanting to see this released at some point.
Very close to alpha :)
sooo... anything actually happening with this?
We're getting close to a playable demo for the backers of the initial crowd funding campaign. We're still a ways from a public release though. Our plan is to get a demo working and then attempt another round of crowd funding.
the concept sounds so interesting relevant good looking out. Real time isometric tactical shooters are rare,so I'm wondering how this particular one shall unfold hope it'll be something good incorporating RPG/XP and an inventory system great storyline (cyberpunk/technothriller) with amazing characters :P All that good stuff.
I should add that, while in no way is this a simulation style experience, much of the behavioral/AI systems are designed based on the ways people actually react in given situations. The mission goals and operational parameters are abstracted from real situations and training programs developed by the "lead" designer. At the end of the day, we want to make a game where players can tell their own story and as a result there will likely be many RPG like elements present in the finished product :)
HellzWind - the demo we are developing now is focused on the core combat system and how the player interacts with the battle space. At this time, that is the laser focus. In many ways, this game is more a RogueLike than a traditional campaign driven experience. The world operates on a series of inter related systems and the player can exploit those to their advantage.
sounds interesting, I'll be sure to check it out once available. Always nice to have depth and a demo. Thanks for the reply!
Any more news on this title? Maybe some new screen shots? :)
We have a lot of working assets but when we debut the actual game, it will be in action :) Thanks for checking in :-D
We're cranking away. We're shooting to have an alpha playable in the next few months for the people who backed our first crowd funding effort. We'll be hopefully working with them to tune alpha 1 and then go loud :) Very much appreciate your interest ^o^
Cool, is the game still open to funding?
We want to get our a demo level up and running before we take anymore $ from people, but thanks!!
