Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a few steps forward. Starting with the release of Arcade mode 2 weeks ago, I saw the metrics and realized that there are some inherent issues with the game that need to be improved.

Unfortunately, I have worked on the game for nearly 7 months nonstop without a single break to refactor. The problem with this, is that I have ended up with, honestly, a large, unwieldy project that is quite difficult to change or tweak.

As such I'm reworking some core components of the game. Mainly the following:

- The Hint/Quest system
- The GUI Interface
- The animation work flow

The hint and quest system is not only helpful to let people figure out how to play the game but will make the demo more user friendly I think.

The Gui interface became a behemoth handler as soon as I figured out how to work with Unity's gui system.

The animation workflow. SIGH! The less I say about how I was handling it the better. It took me dozens of hours to get the animations done and I was basically stuck with the terrible models I made back in May which were not optimized and UGLY!

The end result should be a faster workflow that allows me to make changes much more quickly and fix problems faster and iterate as quickly as possible.

At this point, I don't see how an End Of Year release is possible, so I guess my first lesson as an Indie is "Know when to push something back".

I will leave this update with two new images of the new models I created this past week.

Enjoy! (And feel free to play the web demo still, I welcome feedback and I'd love to see SOMEONE actually make it to the leader board since I spent so much time programming the thing :)

This is an image of the new miner model I will have. This poor guy spends a lot of time out of the sunlight.

Here's an image of the new Astronaut model. All models are theoretically playable.
