B-12 is an arcade style, single player, third/first-person action-platformer with roguelike elements and robots with plasma cannons for hands.

Report RSS More Screenshots, Leaning towards Early Access Launch

Finally posted another batch of screenshots today. 2014 is turning out to be an extremely difficult year, but I'm using it as motivation. Development continues at a steady pace. B-12 is getting to be a lot of fun, and I feel confident that there is no other FPS quite like it. Originally I had planned on releasing a free alpha demo, but the quality and scope of the game have advanced to the point where I feel an inexpensive early-access release is the best route for B-12

Originally I had planned on releasing a free alpha demo, but the quality and scope of the game have advanced to the point where I feel an affordable early-access release is the best route for B-12. I'll be releasing the alpha via Desura and the Humble Widget within the next few weeks. I'm leaning toward $10 for early access and $15 for the final release.

Stay tuned for another big update with a newer video (finally!), some gif's, and more details on the current/planned features, etc.

I'm very excited to see games being made specifically for Oculus particularly FPS which I imagine has quite a few challenges?

It definitely does! I'm trying to follow as many of Oculus' VR-best-practices as I can, but some just have to be ignored to make a game like this to work. For example, VR-mode will definitely not be for everyone due to the fast movement, strafing, wall-jumping etc, but I'm doing my best to make sure it's lots of fun to play on a normal screen too. =]

Tracking.

Not sure about the display of health and other stuff on the gun though.
First of all the gun will move fast and move a lot, so it might be hard to read the bars on it within the battle.
Also it's very limited space, so you cannot put much information on there, the perspective also makes it hard to determin exactly how much is left and If you're keeping the 3rd Person mode, you'll need a HUD anyway.

I guess you're trying to keep the Screen as clean as possible, but sometimes a good HUD will improve a games atmosphere, too.

Since your protagonist is a robot, he'd have a more augmented reallity like vision anyway.

You should also take a look at the channeled MegaMan FPS prototype called Maveric Hunter.
This covers more or less what i'd expect from a MegaMan FPS.
