Hi everyone and welcome to a new devlog for Assembly RTS

A real-time strategy game that will let you customize your own vehicles.

Main Capsule 010

Last week I finished upgrading my project to ECS 1.0
and improved the main menu user interface, input handling, and scene navigation.
And for the first time, I gave creating music for the game a try.

One afternoon after work I came across the game "The Pioneers: Surviving Desolation" on Steam and I was impressed by the music in its trailer.
Shortly after I could imagine great church organ music of my own.
I was inspired and thought: This is it! This would be the ideal music for Assembly RTS!

If I could get some nice chords going and layer some percussion I would be set!

And if I made my own music, I could dynamically adapt the soundtrack to the gameplay.
For instance, I could mix in some percussion whenever there is some fighting going on.

The next day I got to work writing music for the first time after a few years of rarely touching a keyboard.

Yet, I was quickly shown again just how bad I am at writing music with chords.
Sometimes I can imagine some great music in my head but actually writing it down is a whole different story.
I once took some Udemy courses to improve my chord writing skills but it never really stuck with me.

I gave it my best shot, but I quickly forgot all the music I had imagined in my head.
So as per usual, I improvised, and instead of writing a piece with the main focus on chords, I wrote it with a focus on a mediocre melody.

For a first try after years of not having written any music, it ain't too bad. But I'm not going to use it in the soundtrack of my game.

If you have any suggestions on how I could get a better hang of chords, please let me know in the comments section.

And if you would like to listen to some of my old music, which I used to make as a hobby, you can check out my Soundcloud page.

That's it for this devlog. Thanks for reading.
And one more thing: Once we reach 500 subscribers on YouTube I'll open a Discord server for Assembly RTS.

See you for the next devlog and have a nice day!
