What is a Command Ship?
If you haven’t already read the Command Ships page of the website, I recommend you check it out, but in short Command Ships are the most powerful ship you have at your disposal. They are characterized by 3 different facets:
Enhanced Power and/or Movement
Command Ships generally have the most powerful attacks in the game. A ship’s attack power is determined by the minimum roll required to get a hit on your opponent’s fleet. For example, if your attack is “3″, then you need to roll a “3″ or higher out of 10 to hit, or in other words you have an 80% chance to strike a hit on the opposing team’s ships.Movement is also an integral part of a ship’s power. Most ships have a movement of 1, meaning they can move 1 hexagon per turn. You may decide your command ships requires more than that for your design.
A command ship also has a passive, moderately strong enhancement that either grants fleet bonuses, other bonuses. Examples of this are “+1 to all binary fighter combat rolls”, or “+2 to resources acquired while engaging in planetary bartering with this ship.”
A command ship’s Zenith power can be used for every 3-5 victory points acquired throughout the game. These are very powerful abilities that can bring your fleet back into the game, or heavily damage your opponents. Examples of this are “Receive +1 to all combat rolls during the first two rounds of a battle”, or “The fleet containing your command ship is granted +1 movement this turn.
So do you have a great idea for a command ship that you want to be integrated into the final version of Arkis Vir? Post it to our forums, and one lucky winner will be granted access into early alpha testing of the game! Good luck!
