In Anodyne, you explore and fight your way through nature, urban and abstract themed areas in the human Young's subconscious, evoked by a 16-bit-era visual style and a moody, dream-like soundtrack. The player moves between rooms 160x160 pixels in size, an intended constraint that we used to create the monster-filled dungeons you will navigate and the set of nature-based (and sometimes stranger) places you will explore. Anodyne is on Steam Greenlight, please vote for it.

You can ask anything, really! There's even a poll attached to this topic.

I'm really stuck at the last puzzle in the circus dungeon - I think what's locked up there is the final modification to my broom. Any hints?

ah, the jumping one - Try jumping onto the top-right left-facing pad and then running as soon as you hit the ground. hit all 4 pads - youll get it eventuall.

Thanks for the hint, but I may be terminally unable to do this. I've died 10 times on this alone, and I get 20 tries per death. I've tried aiming across the hole to the south and to the west, so as not to run into the torches, and I've tried aiming around the torches and straight towards the button in the NW corner. Neither have worked for me. I hate to ask for even more help, but which direction should I aim towards?

I can't figure out where to go next. I have every card up to where I am stuck. I am assuming I need to somehow get through the lilly flowers at the south-east corner of the large field/main area. The portal I can't seem to unlock in order to continue is the one on the top left side in the room just North of the oracle guy in the nexus, opposite of the windmill portal. Any advice?

[edit]
Just a bit more information; I have 36 cards, the only upgrades I have are 'widen' and the shoes

[edit2]
Disregard my question;
I located the passage I needed hidden in the north-west corner of the main map.

I have no idea how to do this either. Some help would be MUCH appreciated. I'll continue to try and will post an update if I get it to work.

I need help desperately, in the circus dungeon i seem to have locked myself in the area where the guy who's losing his balance is, i cant seem to get the "blue wireframes" to turn on from the outside, and i cant backtrack either :/

Edit: nevermind, i used the long broom extension and kinda glitched through it.

I've beaten the game and got the ability to swap tiles anywhere are there any hidden items besides the heart and how many cards total are there, 47 or 48?

Feb 18 2013 Anchor

Alright, can someone simply tell me how the damn speed up tiles work? I'm stuck on both speed tile puzzles that have four tiles in an "L" shape, one at the circus and one at the snowy/snowman land nearer to the briar.

I would just like to know the rules of interaction so I can somehow have hope at improving at these complicated jumping puzzles, because I can't make it work. At all.

There are 3 levels of speed, you can have speed in multiple directions. It stacks until you let go in a direction or hit something in that direciton.

Yes and people at Gamefaqs.com may help with the last question!

Thanks a bunch, I think I got it now. Remapping my movement keys away from my arrows also helped so that I could jump diagonally.
Wonderful game, make more, be awesome.

"There are 3 levels of speed, you can have speed in multiple directions. It stacks until you let go in a direction or hit something in that direction."

I'm hopelessly stuck in the North Western most room of the circus, and the above really isn't helping me any. I'm guessing I'm supposed to somehow use the

speed tiles to jump across, but it seems really intermittent that the speed actually stacks up, you can hear the twirp sound effect as you step on the speed tile and I have gotten it so it speeds up with the second and third, but I still feel like I have zero chance of making the jump in that room, and about 80% of the time that I walk over second third or fourth tile I just get the first level of speed and the first twirp sound effect.

Oh well maybe I'm just supposed to come back to this part at a later time?

Or I'm missing something entirely.

EDIT: After 100's of attempts I finally made it thru that section... not fun. Enjoying the rest of the game tho.

Post-game question:
How do I get at the treasure chest in the hidden room in the top left corner of the forest area? (the one in the pool of water with two gates in front of it)

I've tried absolutely everything I could think of and it's driving me nuts.

e: nevermind, I got it. the solution was extremely dumb and unsatisfying.

I am stuck with 34 cards. All the red gems are turned on for the worlds I have explored. What do I do next? It this where I get the rock mover thingy?
