Strike Units

Currently in Alpha Centauri Space Force pilots can choose from four strike units, in which tech is distributed differently and it's characterized by a certain level of difficulty with cons and pros. For example, basic spacemen are allowed to drive the Light Fox A-1 strike unit from the beginning, since this spacecraft is more generous than others allowing less advanced pilots to commit certain mistakes, yet it's a bit slower to be an ace. Higher ranks enable pilots to drive other strike units.

Hi-Tech Defensive System

The strike units performance is based on SE (energy) that recharges as time passes. Therefore the higher the amount of charge, the better spacecraft can perform. The defensive system performs with a shield which can activate automatically as charge reaches the 30%, preventing the strike unit from being destroyed instantly. There are two types of shields: one is passive and surrounds the spacecraft with a force field; the second one is dynamic and is able to generate up to four cores that can support pilots in space battles. I’d like to emphasize that, I mentioned in the previous article about the difficulty of shoot ‘Em Up games. In addition to many games of this series, when pilots get hit, they’re destroyed and / or lose their pickups, and it’s difficult to start over only with basic weapons when pilots are at an advanced level. However, in Alpha Centauri Space Force, when pilots get hit they lose a percentage of their SE, as long as the shield is activated, which gives them additional time to overcome difficulties as SE recharges. The Emperatriz X-64 spacecraft is suitable for experienced pilots, because SE can reach up to 50% allowing very little margin for errors, but it's faster to be an ace.

Hi-Tech Weaponry System

The strike units work with three different weapon modes: the primary weapon which can shoot projectiles accordingly the spacecraft position; the secondary one can launch a single homing missile, but targets must be locked on manually, in order to be fired; and the special weapon, can launch several missiles at once, as well as secondary weapon, targets must be locked on, yet special weapon differs between smart and pilot missile system; the first one is automatic, and the second one is manual. However, the strike units are equipped with one missile system, either smart or pilot. This awesome feature has been implemented thanks to the Lock-on and Tracking System assets by D. Jung, and his further support.
