Hi there everyone! It's again time to update the latest progress and news from AirwaySim's airline simulations.

Game World #1 - 1960 to 2030 - starts this Sunday

Game World #1 is one of the four main airline sim scenarios at AirwaySim and this new game starts again in the year 1960 and continues to 2030. Be in charge of your own airline for 70 years, from the Early Days era all the way to the Future.

Game World #1

The opening time of this game world will be at 12.00 UTC on Sunday May 22nd (That's 8am@NYC, 13.00@London and 21:00@Tokyo.). You can already pre-join this upcoming game world at our website.

This game world will follow the standard settings for long AirwaySim games:

  • Standard difficulty level, all airports, all aircraft models and all features are included.

  • Game's speed is initially 25 minutes per each simulated day.

  • The overall passenger demand has been increased for the early era to accommodate more players.

  • Number of airport slots, aircraft production rates, and other economy related factors are increased to take into account the player numbers.

  • Start-up cash is plentiful to give you a good start, also later in the game (since the money increases over time). Part of the money is issued as loans.

  • You can of course also earn the Achievements from this game.

To join the new Game World #1, visit the AirwaySim Game Area! See you at the new sim scenario this Sunday!

Previews - City Based Demand

The work with the Air Cargo features is progressing nicely and we have held already private and public test games.

The cargo feature is being powered by one of the biggest single updates so far, the City Based Demand system. At first this "CBD" system will power the calculations for the cargo transport but will be later expanded to passenger transport modelling too and it will then create unique new opportunities for players to grow their airlines.

City Based Demand system in a nutshell is:

  • A new simulation model for creating the passenger and cargo demand between regions in the AirwaySim's simulations.

  • The traffic (pax / cargo) is no longer tied to airports but the airports act only as gateways for the traffic.

  • Airports can grow or shrink in size, and many airports can compete for the demand from the same city area (think of London and the several airports in the region).

  • Areas and countries will have their own macro-economies and local or regional recessions or boosts in economy will be possible.

  • The traditional real-life HUB airports like Heathrow or Atlanta may not be that big anymore - but the players are fully in charge of this.

While this system is still very much "work in progress", we've collected already a preliminary manual page to our website that explains all the details. If you are interested, take a look at the manual (you have to be logged in first).

Local economy model
