Game Overview
In Civil War, you will experience America?s epic conflict, as you charge across open fields, scout out enemy positions on horseback, ride military balloons high above battlefield, or captain an ironclad gunboat on the Mississippi river'
A team based war game, that lets you fight the Civil War across America' Select to fight for the North or the South, you play as a soldier armed with musket and sword' The fighting takes place on numerous historic battlefields' Experience intense single player missions and the challenge of multiplayer online gaming at its best' You have your orders' Now, lead your men to victory'
Go online to fight fierce battles' Victory will come to those who cooperate and fight as a team' Choose the Blue or the Gray' Select to fight as an Artillery Officer, Infantry soldier, Sharpshooter, Marine or Support character; each with a specialized kit of weapons and items' Wage war throughout the North and South'
Plenty of action with four game types:
- Capture the flag, Each team attempts to capture other team?s flag(s)'
- Conquest, Each team fights to control strategic battlefield positions'
- Raiding Party, One team attacks, while the other team defends' ( then teams switch roles )
- Battle Line option, teams fight in various line formations'

The mappers will be working on both land and water based maps'

Working on prototype gunboats'
Should have working test version in next internal alpha'

Thank you to everyone who has helped support the Civil War shooter project. We are making progress - slow, but steady progress with development using TGE 1.4, and will consider porting game to TSE once it is finished.
We have some new pictures from our Map Contest (WIP) and some of our concept soldiers (Nurse and Sailor). We will have both land and water based maps, along with 6 unique soldier types.

Why the mention of "Battlegrounds"?
We can only hope to be as successful as the only American Revolutionary Mod for HL/HL2.

The main title "Age of Muskets" is intended to cover wide range of possible 18th/19th century themed games, when soldier fought with swords and muskets. While the Civil War saw the wide use of rifled weapons, they still had smooth bore muskets and even the rifled long arms could be called "rifled musket" - hence the title "Age of Muskets American Civil War"
We plan on focusing on challenging multiplayer combat and while the game will feature Civil War weapons, we plan on making the weapons more gameplay friendly with quicker reloading and less weapon malfuctions. The idea is to have fun and challenging team combat set in Civil War era.

you obviously haven't played battlegrounds (well at least you haven't played the second one because i don't know anything about the first one). in battlegrounds (btw it is a revolutionary war game) , everyone has muskets or primitive rifles that take about 10 seconds to reload. plus the musket balls tend to "fall" because of gravity. so having the highground is always an advantage (even if it isn't that high). so whenever you do hit someone, there is so much joy in it. but mostly ppl are thrusting each other with bayonets and slashing each other with swords. you can even man cannons which act like grenades on impact. at first it can be intimidating and it is hard to grasp the gameplay. but once you have it down, it is so addicting. hopefully this civil war game will have a simiilar affect.
