Imagine a world where the villages of humans were scattered along mountaintops, and the world below was completely blocked off by an impassible wall of clouds. In a world like that, advancements in air travel would precede both land and sea. This is the kind of world that Aero Empire is set in. In this world, the player can rise through the ranks, from a lowly gunner manning a turret aboard an airship to the commander of several airships, ordering the crew of your own airship and the captains of the airships in your squad. Aero Empire is a cross-genre game, incorporating elements of role-playing games, shooters, flight simulators, and squad combat. Production on the game started November 25th, 2008, and is scheduled to release by the end of 2010, and a potential sequel focusing on nation management may come later. The single player version will be free to download and play, with no restrictions.
To test the AI for gyros, I set up a simple competition between an AI and a human player. Two gyros were spawned in a scene with no initial velocity, free falling only 800 meters above the twilisphere. The goal was to gain enough velocity and recover control, flying into the sky before hitting the twilisphere (not an easy task). The script of the AI was set to only maximize altitude and lift. This screenshot was taken as the human pilot, Red Owl, finally regained control of the gyro and then looked around and found the progress of the AI gyro, that small spec high above her.
I thought this moment was worth sharing - and look forward to more information about the AI, and the demo, in our next news post.
Awesome Pic!
Nice job! I love what you're doing!
Thanks! Did you read the description? There's a nice story behind this picture :P .
i just read it! Looking forward to the demo!
Can't wait for the demo guys =D
Sounds like a ton of fun :D
Thanks! It's not yet a full game, but already it's pretty fun just to fly around and compete with the AI. Some of the team members even want to compete with who can recover the fastest lol. It's a good sign that the game is already fun, and I'm looking forward to trying out the completed demo itself... and then the game (hopefully) at the end this year!
lookin interesting
Jeah were ruling ^^
