Aeolis Tournament is a 3D party action game where up to 8 players compete in various game modes based on a simple one-button mechanic. Characters use an air cannon to control the power of the wind and affect their surroundings. It's a high-tempo game in the vein of Fusion Frenzy with a Nintendo-inspired cartoony and colorful art direction. Aeolis Tournament features physics-based gameplay, a tournament mode and local and online multiplayer play.
Beyond Fun Studio is an indie video game studio in Quebec City founded in 2019 by Samuel Lapointe, Sébastien Gauvin and Jonathan Nadeau. Each developer had years of experience previously in indie and servicing studios working on arcade, mobile and AAA games before teaming up.
After working for almost a year on another project in their spare time with a slightly different team, they took part in the 2018 Pixel Challenge in Quebec City, formerly the largest game jam in Canada and won the grand prize with a game prototype that would become Aeolis Tournament.
The team continued to work on it in their spare time for months until they became finalists and won the grand prize of the 2019 Catapulte program in Quebec City, including 55,000$ for the production of the game.
Since then, Beyond Fun Studio has been working on it full time and hopes to release in early 2020 for the Nintendo Switch and Steam. A port is also in the plans for XBox One and PlayStation 4.
