ADOM is primarily known for being the first roguelike to include vibrant towns, NPC dialog, and quests, but it offers more than just a rich story line in a complex fantasy world:

  • a huge game world with hundreds of locations such as towns, randomized dungeons, elemental temples, graveyards, ancient ruins, towers and other secrets
  • loads of races (dwarves, drakelings, mist elves, hurthlings, orcs, trolls, ratlings and many others) and even more classes (fighters, elementalists, assassins, chaos knights, duelists and much more) allowing for infinite play styles
  • hundreds of monsters and items, many with enhanced random features
  • a corruption system forcing you to balance lust for power with fear of damnation (corruptions slowly transform you into a vile monster but at the same time grant inhuman benefits - most of the time)
  • spells, prayers, mindcraft, alchemy, crafting and more
  • dozens of quests and branching story lines
  • numerous wildly different endings that might alter reality itself (simply drive Chaos away or slay a god or even become an immortal yourself, and others more)!

And it's now available on Steam, too: Store.steampowered.com

I'm a complete newcomer to ADOM, barely 1 month playing, but I'm completely absorbed by this great game.
I've played a lot of role-playing games, but this one has captivated me and I can't stop playing.
It shows that the creator has a passion for what he does. Give a chance, because it's impossible to get bored and never is the same.
Thanks to Thomas Biskup for creating and maintaining it. In fact, yesterday is update it for FREE for everyone.
What more can you ask for?
10/10.

I've been playing this godly game since I was 8 - I'm 26 now. That right there should tell you just how good of a game it is. Even when it was Ascii it was the amazing game with infinite replay. Now its a gorgeous game with infinite replay. Thomas Biskup you sir are an amazing human being for releasing and maintaining a game of this caliber after all these years.

Now that Fallout 4 is out... I keep playing ADOM. Best game ever.

Fallout 4 is a crappy open world shooter, Bethesda stopped making RPG games when they made Skyrim.

Choosing between an RPG game and a game that pretends it's an RPG game, is no difficulty choice.

I've been playing this game for at least 20 years. It is the first thing I put on a new computer after an anti-virus. I've never beat it. Never read tutorials or anything. I loved this game when it was just ascii and I love it now. I just purchased the Steam version and I am loving it. Can you feel the love? I'm feelin the love. Love for my fellow man. But mostly love for ADOM.

Been playing it since '06. Never found any other game with such an enormous replay value or level of detail.

I'm so glad to see this game coming to Steam. I've been playing it since the late '90's and its still a fun rogue-like. Far deeper than the early Ultima games that first got me hooked on RPG's. And with the graphic, sound, and UI overhaul it's received this year, it's been transformed into something amazing. (And quests! More quests! {drool}) :)

I've playing ADOM for at least 16 years.
I've never won, but it didn't stop me from playing at least once a week.

With the new updates, the beatiful graphics and the lovely music, it became a completely new experience which I enjoy even more than the ASCII mode.

All in all a fantastic game.
