Been a while since the last update, so here's an overview of what has been done since then, and what is planned.
Game Worlds
The game is split up into different Worlds, which are like the playable menus in the current demo. Players can drive between worlds, which are linked together and very open. Each world has several Drift and Gymkhana tracks.
Missions
Missions are mini-challenges that tell you what you must do in order to complete them.
Some missions are easy, such as "Smash 30 blocks". While others, such as "Find 8 hidden swag" require a little bit of exploration in a world.
Completing all the missions in a world will unlock the Challenge level for that world. Once a player completes a challenge level next world is unlocked.
Drift Mission
Another Drift Mission
Levels are now Sessions
When you play a level in Absolute Drift, you will try it many times in order to learn the level and become better. This is now called a Session. Each time you finish a level, your score will be compared with your Personal Record and the World Record for that track. Players can retry a level as many times as they like, when they are finished with the Session, they will be directed to the Online Leaderboards to see how their score stacks up with the world.
Gymkhana
A two minute score attack. Similar to the Freestyle tracks in the demo. Now there is a score multiplier, which is increased by getting points and reduced by crashing.
Player must perform tricks on obstacles, some of which are:
Spin-Zone
Do a 360 spin within the
designated zone. After a spin is complete, the player must leave the zone and
then come back to repeat a 360.
Donut
Drift 360 degrees around a
circular object. After one 360 degree drift is complete, the player must leave
the zone and then come back to repeat a 360.
The Future
The plan is to have near-release quality for 1 World, 1 Gymkhana track, and 1 Drift track by the end of October.
This NEEDS to become multiplayer!
It's not in the cards right now, but I might play around with local multiplayer once the game is released.
The drifting looks unbelievably smooth!
