Hello everyone,
We are now only two days before the game's release, and I am very excited to announce that everything seems to be working perfectly in time.
The game will be released in the evening of April 25th, so please do not complain when the game is not available right from midnight onwards. At first, it will only be available in English. This version is coming out Free To Play!! It will be available for download on ModDB/IndieDB and the official homepage: A-dark-secret.exunitaevires.com
A German translation will be added in the end of May, an exact date is not decided yet. It will depend on how many bugs, further suggestions and grammatical errors players will report from the game. I will be creating the German translation myself, thus taking care of the reports and the translation.
Translations in Norwegian and Dutch will follow until the end of 2014. We are still looking for translators to other languages!
The official soundtrack will be released on May 1st and will be available on YouTube only.
It is unusual to create mods for games on the engine Ren'Py. However, a volunteer from the Netherlands has suggested the creation of a mod for this visual novel. The contents of the mod will be discussed in the future, but it will be based on this story, possibly an additional part of the story, and will include more player interaction possibilities. The development of the mod will begin in June 2014 - a release date is not yet determined.
The Download Contents:
'A Dark Secret' is not the usual visual novel. It is rather equal to a visual novel than an interactive book. Player interaction is possible in a couple of scenes, however not very dominating. If you decide to download and play 'A Dark Secret', please be aware of that before you download and start the game. I would not advice for you to play the game if you are not a fan of reading. If you are looking for a real game to play, this is not your thing. Again, before you download it and complain about the little interaction, make sure to think about if this is really your type of game.
Here is an actual list of things that will be included in the first download:
- A long and very detailed storyline. This is the basis for the game.
- Emotional poems between some of the scenes.
- High quality graphics.
- Underlining background music.
- Language: English
- Couple of scenes that allow player interaction.
The first download will not include voice acting.
