Hmmm, he's got an apron and meat cleaver? Just a guess, but it's almost as if they're trying to make the character more interesting by hinting at his pre-apocalyptic profession. But what could it be?

You should give him some kind of nasty looking circular saw weapon instead of a clever. And he should have on some kind of chest armor. Keep the apron but let it hang over his armor.
He would die over time in a real apocalypse due to him having no armor and rusty,bacteria bullets entering his body but who cares,It's a game and he looks baddass
